Components At Premier Events Clarrification

By paganeagle2001, in KeyForge

Ok, so the tournament rules say.

A player is an individual that plays KeyForge at the tournament. A player must bring all components they need to play a game of KeyForge . This includes their own unique deck for Archon tournaments.

Now, having the scan card makes sense, but will each player need to bring their own stun, +1 cards. Tokens, Amber etc.

And if they don't what happens, do they get to pay?

the rules say, no scan card, no play, so I'm looking for a clarification on this as a few people have asked me about it.

You can bring proxy tokens, as long as it's clear what they represent, i.e. keys need to be two sided. So in theory, you don't need to buy the base box. Though, replacing the components from the base box with acrylic will typically be more expensive than just buying the box. The box also comes with enough for two players, so it can be split. In a pinch though, you can use components from almost any game. I personally use the tokens from the now defunct Star Wars LCG, for irony purposes.

Also, for better or for worse, you can't use dice for anything. There is a whole thread arguing over what exactly is defined as a "die", but to be on the safe side, don't plan on using anything even vaguely die like.

I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist. So IMO, the rule about dice is more so that there is a visible difference in pictures between MTG and Keyforge. If all you saw in a picture of a Keyforge tournament was players going 1v1 with dice all over the table, most people will assume that they are playing MTG. If you are using bright colored tokens all over the place, its obviously not MTG.

For FFG "Premier" is probably worlds, nationals, continentals, and maybe regionals, I don't recall the exact list. None of those events are really on the calendar yet. For your regular store meetup, nobody is likely to care if you use anything to proxy. So yes, you get to play.

Once again on the conspiracy side. It's possible that FFG might have decks that win high level tournaments "removed" by marking it in the app, or physically destroying the card list. The secondary market for FFG tournament swag is already crazy, I shudder to think of actual decks for sale with a pedigree.

Hi, I knew about dice and can understand the reason for not using the. As to at store event, I have no problems sharing my tokens, but thought a Clarrification for when the premier events appear would help.

They could do a tick off list in the tournament rules on what an opponent needs to bring to a premier event.

Plus a note that you need an account with your decks registered before entering certain events. Its no good turning up at the last minute, then having to make an account and then registering your deck.

i think more clarifications will appear as we get closer to premier events.

No doubt we will all end up with a collection of tokens to use. But if you turn up to any tournament with a notepad and pen, you'll be set - you can make whatever tokens you need on the fly.

I would like to ask that Amber tracking apps be disallowed along with dice. It is impossible to keep track of your opponents board state from across the table and distracting to need to constantly ask. It is also way easier for your opponent to alter the totals, accidentally or not, than it is with dice.
