Space laser turrets

By 414taylor, in X-Wing

I saw some space laser turrets on shapeways but can’t remember who made them. I was thinking of using them for casual play but would need directions on how to use them; for example, when do they rotate, range of fire, bullseye and the mechanic that would enable a faction to program them to fire on other factions. Example would be that whoever touches the turret ‘programs’it to ignore that faction and if another factio touches it then the most recent faction takes precedence. Thoughts anyone?

Got a link to that shapeways??

Take a large base and put a single turret on it. Firepower 4 Agility 0. You got a Turbolaser Turret.

As above but also activate at I0.

If using turret rotate mechanics you could simulate a turbolaser by giving them a weapons disabled token when rotating.

After all turbolasers are canonically not that good at tracking fighters. Although if they catch one they have the firepower to tear them apart. Hence the firepower 4 as suggested above.

If treating as a laser cannon battery no disable token but drop the firepower to 3. Also maybe a medium base.

I'd give it 3, with a 4 in the bullseye arc. And give it an action bar with rotate and calculate- though this might be a bit much.

Also possibly a gunner slot?

Thanks for the input. Any ideas about the programming part?

The shapeways link is under the useful links header then go to custom shapeways. 4 attack in bullseye is great,0 agility is great, how about rotate mechanic(automated turret). I was thinking that they are neutral until somebody activates them. Why not activate for free? Or activate and give the activating ship a weapons disabled token?

Found the turrets at Mel miniatures.

I thought about turret rotation and a mechanic from robo-rally came to mind where the turrets rotate automatically every turn and they are neutral so everybody is fair game. Also, they cannot be destroyed. If anyone wants to make a rule card for others to use that would be appreciated. I can’t because my computer won’t download any programs.

I looked at that site. Some nice turret selections there. Are they all good for X-wing play? If so, i might invest in one of the 'multi-packs..

Casual games it would be up to who you're playing with if they're willing to deal with them. Definitely not for competitive or official matches.

You might also wanna look at HOTAC for a turret ruleset. They have got one that works pretty well for rotation and firing, at least in 1.0 it did.

They had a whole printable station with turrets, and once you controlled the control room they switched targets from you to the imps.

The only part that you’d have to add would be the reprogramming thing, if you want that.

I assume at the beginning, they’d be hostilr to both players?

Mel’s has 3 cards ready to print for turrets but what is the link for HOTAC? Thank you for the input ideas.
