Crew in Lando's Escape Craft

By Leuqla, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi all,

Rather new to X-wing so appologies for noob errors and comments.

Question for thoughts:

If I had Qi'ra as a crew member and I was able to lock an obstacle. Would that mean when re-docked into the falcon/YT, the lock still stands and the crew member is now considered an extra ability in the falcon?

Many thanks in advance,

Andy

When the Escape Craft docks, it's put into reserve and any upgrades that don't specifically work while in reserve are blank. So no, you wouldn't get obstacle immunity on the Falcon from Qi'ra (crew) on the Escape Craft.

Not to mention that the Escape Craft can't naturally perform the lock action, so Qi'ra would be a poor choice anyway.

Sadly no.

For a couple reasons. Qi'ra is on the escape craft not the Falcon, so only the escape craft can use the ability. Being docked to the Falcon doesn't change that. Thematically of course that makes no sense, but that's just how the rules work for this mechanic. The lock would stay in place I believe, there's nothing to indicate it should be removed, but you wouldn't be able to use it in any way while the escape craft is docked, only after deploying again.

In addition, docked ships, along with their abilities and upgrades, are out of play while docked. They do not function or interact with the game other than (I believe) tokens like Focus still drop off at the end of the round.

The only exception would be something that explicitly said it functioned while docked as cards are allowed to override standard rules. ie "While you are docked your carrier ship can do X"
