Suggestions for a bureaucrat or auditor turned rebel's gear help

By TheShard, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I need gear i can flavor as stuff an auditor, investigator or bureaucrat would repurpose for rebel use...

The old uniform and code cylinder might be of use infiltrating. Maybe he has a datapad with data files of imperial shipping or base locations. Contacts that may not realize he is a rebel, or are also sympathizers.

As a bureacrat, most of his gear would be clothes, computers or people.

His best value is the knowledge he brings. "No, not that way, these outpost have checkpoints on that side of the building. The employee entrance is over there." etc.

Yup I got a build for this guy. However I need to spend 750 credits.

I'm thinking etiquette and cultural manuals, those binoculars that allow you to see through walls as "Auditors" goggles. Any other ideas?

Get a clipboard...err datapad, and walk with a purpose. Nobody ever bothers the guy with a clipboard.

If you can stretch to 800 credits, what about falsified credentials? Before you left, you set up a bogus ID that was registered from inside the system.

That's true. What's the mechanical effects?

They ID you as whatever you specify on acquisition. Proving them fake requires Hard check with equipment, and worse without (assuming you have reason to suspect they are fake in the first place.)

So they can be a simple fake ID to prevent you from getting a criminal record (or avoid one you already have). Or they can get really wild, identifying you as High Inquisitor Midichlorian Coaxium, Hand of the Emperor and King of the Tapani Sector...of course that might get checked out more than a simple bogus pilot's license, or fake ship's weapons loadout permit.

How about one of those tiny drones/remotes to take pictures and record your dictations?
