Happy Thanksgiving you Rebel Scum!

What I question is the survival supplies.

I mean come on. You're in an A-Wing.

Your odds are clearly in the negatives.

I’m sure it’s for psychological benefit.

Like an airbag on Hennessy Venom F (top speed 301 mph.) or a seat for your date on a AMC Eagle Wagon (when you really know you will never get a date).

I might be wrong, but I believe that's the first time the R-22 and Tammuz-an have been referenced in canon.

That's really cool; I like that they're keeping the old backstory for the A-Wing, with all its retcons about when it first appeared. I just wish they'd kept it that the RZ-1 design we see in RotJ was a direct result of the Battle of Yavin, and the brainchild of the guy who used to design starships for the Republic.

I'd love it if they could flat out state the A-Wings in Rebels are R-22s now. It would finally canonise the R-22 as the McQuarrie concept design, something which never even happened in Legends.

Maybe we could even get it as a model variant in TMG?

Man, idk if I could strap into one of these knowing if I kick too hard I might inadvertently set off a concussion missile XD

Amusing that there's a call-out identifying the pilot... as if she's a clone who is supplied with the ship as standard! :o

And then you could preserve the RZ-1 as a post-Yavin design.

That will still leave stupid B-wings before Yavin, tho...

I'm not sure I understand. Eagle Wagon's are sexy AF. Especially with the wood grain.

I'm not sure aobut RZ2 but didn't RZ1 only have the capability to store only 4 hyperspace destinations (something like that). Could you imagine if you were sent on a scouting mission and came back to where you thought the fleet was going to be and it was gone? Well, better eat some crackers in the meantime.

Nah, you'll just have to plug any destinations beyond those four in yourself, so best keep your astrogation skills up to scratch.

The RZ-2 will thankfully also be a good ship gamewise unless they massively overcost it.

L’lulo seems like a really good pilot amd will probably see lots of play.

Now if they please could give the Rebel A-wing a good I5 pilot too, i’d be happy.

On another note, this seems to finally conclude the dimension issues there were with the Rebel A-Wing? Did they give official measurements at last???

Interesting an ship with an actual LASER armament instead of an energized gas emitter trying to pass as one.

I doubt it. For one thing, the argument "those aren't the same model of starfighter, therefore the size of one is immaterial to the other," is a valid argument.

The RZ2 description does say it has a longer from than the RZ1, so that's something. IIRC, the old canon suggestion was 9.6 meters for the RZ1 while those arguing for the ship model size as used in the films place it at closer to 7 meters. The latter size would make sense if the RZ2 is supposed to be longer than it at 7.68 meters.

I'd be curious to see how long the physical A-Wing was in the TLJ hangar scene. They had one built...

I can't wait for wave 2 to land.... please please next week

As an aircraft mechanic, I approve.

Definitely not very big!

These 2 look to have "The Abyss" style insertion of the pilot into a model separate from where the pilot was recorded (though the RZ-2 is CGI instead of the small model subs used in The Abyss).

DO YOU LIKE FLYING STARSHIPS!? Have you ever dreamed of strapping yourself to a pair of Novaldex K-88s and going uncomfortably fast in a deadly vacuum!? Do you REALLY enjoy the reassurance that your survivability depends entirely on whether or not your a bad enough dude(tte) to fly a lighty armored coffin? Do you hate X-Wings!? If so, have we got a fighter for you! It’s fast, and nimble, and will make you yell “Weeeee!” before you explode through a Star Destroyer bridge like the fist of an angry insect! You’ll be (barely) armed with a pair of swivel mount laser cannons, now with patented anti-jam technology that makes them succesfully swivel nearly every time! And for thicker targets, maybe a couple of cute little Concussion Rockets to poke them full of holes! Remember, if you call them rockets, they miss less!

So run on down to the flight deck and sign up to fly an *A-Wing today! Or just throw yourself on the ground and assume the party-goer position while yelling “I want my free Weeee!-ride!” Now available in Blue, Green, and Go-Fast!

*No piloting experience necessary! Be a tomorrow’s hero, today!

Just eyeballing and using the human running towards it as reference, 7 meters certainly seems close to correct for the RZ1 RZ2.

RZ-2. Black One is a dead giveaway the hangar scene is of the new model. RZ-1 was the Rebel refit of the KDY R-22 Spearhead. :)

The RZ-1 in RotJ scales to about 7 meters using the Home One scene and studio effects models, as well.

That's fine, the image in question is on the Raddus though.

Sorry i made this another A-Wing size discussion.

I am really excited to play this ship, as to me it is the only real A-Wing in the game once it comes out. The Rebel version is really castrated by its pilot choice and the designated role as only being a blocker and... err... support ship, i guess? I know, sounds ridiculous but that's what they are at the moment.

The RZ-2 however seems to make this iconic ship what it's supposed to be both by pilot choice and by upgrade possibilities. Such a superb little ship.

🤨 Consider that an inevitable when ever an A-Wing is brought up. I don't see the apology as necessary. I hope the RZ-2 meets your expectations. I'll certainly enjoy shooting at them.
