Now that we have Rogue One...

By Xiervak, in Star Wars: Legion

I would love to see some Star Wars: Rebels lore make it into the game. While I did not like the show one bit, I loved Ahsoka making a return.

Here's to seeing Ahsoka make it to Legion!

While I don't really care if the Ghost crew made it into Legion, the Grand Inquisitor would be awesome, as would Kallus, so sure, bring on Rebels.

We might see Clone Wars Ahsoka for the Grand Army of the Republic faction.

So, you disobeyed direct orders, causing the needless deaths of the fighter squadron in your command?

GO TO YOUR ROOM!

🙂

I would like to see the Ghost crew just to add some variety for my Rebels, but I'm an Imperial player at heart so give me those Inquisitors!

I think Kallus could be a fun unit. Maybe he could be a Rebel operative that replaces a unit leader in an opposing Corps unit. He could give negatives to that unit while in it and his command cards could mess with units within a certain range. If the unit gets wiped out he dies, but if he's the only one left, he becomes a single trooper unit under the command of the player who brought him, using his own card.

Personally I'd prefer if they kept the "OT" stuff (including R1) to just the movies. I'm cool with some Solo mixed in there as well, but I've never been a fan of the Rebels stuff and I don't know if it would fit in with the overall theme of the game. (Clone wars non-withstanding)

I would like to see Kanan. While the show was average for me, Kanan had a decent development arc and an ok end

But Thrawn, man, he'd be fun to have in the game, even if he cost a bajillion points.

Master Tactician and Opportunist to followers within 6 squares.

Like this comment if you "get" it.

Agreed he'd be fun to have in game. I know him more from the TIE Fighter series and comics rather than Rebels though. Plus I know we have Vader and the Emperor but would an admiral really be down on the front lines?

I'd like Thrawn for the same reason I like Veers, who unlike Vader or Palpatine could really be any Imperial army officer. If you Like Thrawn he's Thrawn, if you don't you can paint him without blue skin he could be any high ranking imperial leader. He'd be a nice versatile option.

I don't know much about Rebels but if they include C1-10P I would very likely buy him.

He does in Rebels. He actually heads the assault on a Rebel base post-bombardment. It's a pretty awesome episode. It also ret-conns why he's so paranoid about Force-users, so if we see him any time after Rebels similar to how he was in early books, then I bet we'll see him taking some precautions against them.

I am really surprised they already dipped into Rogue One content. We don't have Lando and he is absolutely huge to the story, he is a part of the main crew (Luke, Han, Chewie, R2 3PO), and we also see him use a blaster in V, VI, and Solo. I hope they have not completely moved on from OT and in the future revisit past areas of the lore. Old Ben would be nice and Yoda, but I could see them being saved for Clone Wars.

I think the characters of Rogue One especially lend themselves to being in Legion as interesting characters. Lando wouldn't be uninteresting, but it's going to take a bit to really differentiate him from Han. Plus, with a series coming out with Cassian as the starring character, Rogue One should be a gold mine for new characters and further exposure to more subterfuge and assassination tactics in the Star Wars universe than we've seen so far.

Also, Obi-Wan and Yoda are both present in the OT, but they don't really do a lot of large scale fighting post-Revenge of the Sith, as far as I'm aware. They aren't really a part of the Rebel Alliance, merely associated with it through Luke. So I'm content to leave them for the Republic since that's where we see them in their prime as generals.

I can see Old Ben as an operative, but I think including Yoda would be even less appropriate than including Palpatine.... which means that FFG is almost certainly going to do it eventually.

Palps may not be viable if you're looking at him exclusively through a movie lens, but most video games and even other tabletop have included Palps as someone who can fight. So I think saying that he is inappropriate for Legion is a stretch.

If it's in Star Wars, and Legion lasts long enough, the odds of it being eventually included are 100%. If they need more stuff to sell, they'll get around to anything in due time. Look at the obscure stuff the D20 minis game made in it's 6 year run! And back in the 8 years of D6 we had minis of Oola and Yoda even though they never got around to sculpting more than 1 pose of most of the troop types. There weren't even really stats for the movie heroes and we got multiple sculpts of most of them just because they knew people would buy their favorite movie characters. Heck we had two poses of Darth Vader (both with lightsaber) who was completely outside the scope of the wargame or the RPG. It's Star Wars, if the game lasts long enough, don't worry your favorite character will be packaged and sold.

I think a legitimate question is not "Why did they include X" but "Why did they include X before Y?". I'm a little annoyed that we have had so much crossover in rebel troops with no snow guys yet for example. Or that Palpatine before generic officers is highly limiting.

I was just thinking this morning that there might be an opportunity for Echo Base troopers to be coming as a Rebel Corps. Right now they are dipping into Rogue One, and I think the Shoretroopers are a potential option for a Imperial corps unit from that movie. But there is no real Rebel corps from Rogue One that they do not already have (Fleet Troopers are the only other Rebel ground forces we see other than Pathfinders). So, they could do Shoretroopers for the Empire, and Echo Base troopers for the Rebels (sort of like they did Snowtroopers and Fleet Troopers).

Also hopeful for Hoth rebels, but I suppose they could do a corps out of Saw's partisans if they want to keep the Rogue One theme going. Maybe the more ruthless flavours of insurgent won't fly with Disney though.

Well we have people who blow up whole planets so I think that's fine.

I really won't buy more imperial [blank]troopers of any kind until we get imp army or navy regulars in cloth 1977-1983 uniforms. You CAN repaint your own "close enough" trooper variants now but it takes a lot more than paint to make your own star destroyer crews.

The rebels are... weird. The original sets Troopers have no details to exclude them from an Endor or Scarif diorama... then we got Endor and now Scarif inspired specialist squads. So if you want to do either of those things you have a corps and a support squad, plus the AT-RT driver. Hoth kind of stands out as being passed over if not for all the support units it has. Very odd. Most likely they are just piecing stuff out to keep as many people as possible interested in at least one product per wave. Plus who knows, maybe the sculptor missed his deadlines for the Hoth troops or something. Stuff like that happens. I halfways suspect we got the Endor commandos just to use (already paid for) extra designs from the original troopers project.

The lack of a viable Hoth rebel army is especially odd in light of the playable Imperial Hoth-like army that is available. That's what really makes me wonder. The empire has a Hoth corps, 2 commanders, and 2 support units. Whereas rebels only have assorted Hoth-like support units available. Curious indeed.

Next few waves will likely be Rogue One inspired, riding off the back of the Cassian series.

Once they're done with Rouge One, they'll probably bounce back to the OT before hitting SOLO.

If they do, and the Rebels get Cold Weather Troopers, the Imperials better get their Navy/Security Troopers.

I have said elsewhere that I will buy Imperial Army and Navy Troopers if/when they make them. Just like I will buy Hoth rebel corps if/when they make them.

Who knows exactly why things are coming out as they are.

Would be cool to have some offensive oriented Partisans.

This is Star Wars we're talking about. Generals lead strike teams and people with no command (or even just military) experience are given ridiculously high rank.

The Rebels tv show is literally small groups of Rebel infantry fighting against small groups of Imperial infantry at the beginning of the GCW. I don't see how it could fit the theme of this game any better. In fact, teh Rebels characters seem WAY more appropriate to the small skirmish nature of the game than most of the characters we've seen so far.

Fair point and admittedly I haven't watched more than an episode of Rebels so I can't say how well the characters might fit. It might be interesting to see the characters in a more realistic style. But so help me if Sabine finds her way into this game....
