Hello all,

I'm a competitive Imperial Assault player (don't throw tomatoes please!) but there's not much of a local group here, so I've been playing Destiny casually but want to get more competitive so I have something competitive to do in my local area. I know that in March or so there's supposed to be a rotation where basically the first 3 waves of cards are no longer tournament legal, so I'm not interested in investing money or time getting all the old stuff. That being said, my understanding is that Trilogies would be a good format for me since I'd only need to find the good stuff from "Legacies, Way of the Force, and Across the Galaxy." I've got the new Leia from "AtG", one die of the new Darth Vader, one die of the new Qui Gon, and I actually really like playing Phasma/Boba. Any thoughts on deck ideas for me to look into or certain cards that are like "Must buys?" I've tried to find a guide that gets into specifics on each card but can't find one.

Out of curiousity, is the starter set Luke Skywalker any good (i wouldn't want to pay the money for the Old Man Hag Luke)?

And finally, where is the best place to get in games online, especially for a newer player like me who is still learning cards (so I wouldn't play super fast like people who hear the card name and automatically respond to it)?

The luke skywalker Starter set is really good. My only real tip that I can think of for going competitive is when you figure out a deck you want and you are expanding your trilogy and later standard collection do not worry to much about getting every card for competitive but rather expanding your favorite decks little by little. This has helped me personally as I have largely played blue hero most of my time and because of this I have a majority of staple cards for any blue deck i could want along with a few staples of red and yellow that combine well with most blue characters.


Right now the meta is still kind of shifting but both Vader and Qui-gon look to be good people for getting competitive. The new Leia is still in the testing process but from what I have seen Yoda may be her best partner. The Luke Starter set has several stable blue cards including Heirloom lightsabers which are the go to redeploy weapon in most blue related decks and a cheaper alternative to some of the legendary sabers if you have not pulled them yet. That is just my 2 cents though.

The best thing you can do to get started is dive in and start playing. If there's a store near you that holds tournaments, go join them. Draft is a great way to build your collection, and constructed is a good way to learn what works and doesn't work from experience. If they have casual play, join in on that, too.

The Luke Skywalker starter set is good and includes Heirloom Lightsaber (goes for about $8 on it's own), which is a really good card. Unfortunately the card that should have been a winner isn't, and that is the Luke card itself. Still a great way to stock up on Legacies cards though.

The best place to get games in online is the Table Top Simulator. To get it you just have to go to the Steam.com and download Steam. Then you make a Steam account for free. And then you can buy the Table Top Simulator for $20. And you can play Star Wars Destiny on it. You can also play the new Tranformers card game on the Table Top Simulator if you like it.
