have any previous editions ever had an object or spell that allowed a character to initiate psychic combat? i think there should be one
psychic combat object
I'm all for it, but can't recall earlier ones having such a thing either (too lazy to check all the card texts though).
i think no, never happened in our games (4th rev+reaper+dungeon+frostmarch). Maybe it's possible with some spell, but i haven't seen it yet.
In third edition,.. every character can attack another character in pvp using strength or craft.
so... no special abilties are needed or objects that initiate psychic combat.

If 2th edition does not have such a object, then it does not exist..
It would be nice to see such a object..
yes it would. an object, a spell, and possibly a follower. it would be a neat idea behind a little homemade expansion
No such object or magic object in 2nd ed. No spell either but it's an interesting idea. It would give spell casters an edge.
The closest thing that comes to mind are two magic objects from 2nd ed "Dragons" expansion - Exorcist's Blade and Psionic Wand. They let you use your strength in psychic combat and your craft in battle respectively. I'm still eagerly awaiting those two for 4th ed
Magic object that allows you to attack another character with your craft is a good idea for a homebrew card.

I am actually waiting for the whole Dragon expansion
An object like this would be very cool, I'd like to see one. But it should grant a craft bonus on the side, otherwise it will frequently get dropped I think.
a craft bonus would be nice, but i think it would be carried anyway. weve been stuck many times with a craft oriented leader that gets very strong and cant be beaten
And naturally, any Str-based character would make a beeline to the City and give it to the Alchemist
. No point in offering someone like the Priest chances to actually attack you when you're the Gladiator (for example). Now, if it were a Cursed Object that forced you to attack others with only Craft and you could only get rid of it in some hard way...
I think game is more balanced without an object like this...maybe Dam's theory (forced to attack with craft, hard to discard ecc.) could be the best way but probably I will not play it. of course, IMO!
Str characters have a huge edge when it comes to PvP in this game. Giving the non-Evil Craft characters an option to attack with Craft would balance the game more, since then the Craft characters wouldn't just be on the receiving end of ass-kickings, they could actually hit back, instead of their current plan, run away, run away.
I agree with Dam, that craft based characters have more chance in a pvp fight, if they draw that object.
Even if it's only 1 from the 300 + cards, then at least, it's in the game.
2 is also oke for me, but not too much
On top of that, there are already some objects that refers to abilities from other characters, so it;s not so bad to bring this sort of object in the game.
thats right. i dont want it to pop up too much. maybe one object, one follower, and one spell. i could scratch the follower and have 2 copies of the spell.
i want to do an expansion that opens from the plains outside of the oasis ( there is a signpost on the space and a fork in the road ). 29 spaces, centered around the theme of an archmages tower. 4 to 6 characters, full deck of tower cards , and a few main deck cards. if anyone is interested in hearing more, and a preveiw of the 4 spaces leading to, and protecting the archmages tower, just let me know and ill start a thread. it may take a while, but id like to eventually have the cards made right
