I'm finally going to be able to watch Solo this week, so I'll also have a Star Wars movie to ruin this Christmas, as well!

It's honestly extremely good. Easily in my top three favorite Star Wars films.

And that's as somebody who was very critical of alden going in, and expecting an extremely meh film.

I take it you’re not a fan of the prequels, as well?

I was super excited for Episode 1 and was super disappointed after it came out. Episodes 2 and 3 didn't really exist in my life at that time as I gave zero cares not even going to the theatre. I enjoyed the original Clone Wars TV Series (not the 3d rubbish but the one done by the director of Samurai Jack which I enjoyed). For me, there was this golden age of Star Wars. There were some really great PC games like X-Wing, TIE-Fighter, Dark Forces, etc. The novels at that time were really good too like the x-wing series and of course Thrawn trilogy. Star Wars was doing well and then Episode 1 pooped out. There were still some great games like Republic Commando.

After the IP was sold to Disney, the Star Wars games turned into rubbish right along with the rest of the Star Wars IP. X-Wing miniatures re-kindled my star wars interest but the Disney movies is certainly killing it for me again.

Oh, I thoroughly expect to enjoy it, even though most of what I hear about it is how a great a heist movie it is, and I'm not usually one for heist movies. But my negativity there was strictly in keeping with the feel of the thread, not because I actually expect my holiday to be ruined by it.

In my opinion is garbage. Yes visually stunning but the story doesn't make sense. That is the problem with many modern movies.

  • Han throwing a rock and breaking a window to shine a light at the vampire and manages to escape
    • That is the stupidest thing in all of Star Wars. Why have a window in the den of a monster that cannot tolerate sun? Why not have a solid wall that is re-enforced so that only missiles or bombs could penetrate? A window that a rock can break?
  • Throwing Han into a pit and having him fight Chewbaca was stupid especially since its established that Chewbaca eats humans.
    • How did han learn to speak wookie? He lived on courescant his whole life. Makes zero sense.
  • Han getting his last name from the imperial office - again makes zero sense.

The list can go on but you get the picture. Again, if you turn off your brain, then sure you can enjoy anything hollywood puts out these days. Its all flashy lights. But if you enjoy story, consistency, and respect for the franchise, I don't see how you can 'like' Disney Star Wars.

TFA was better in my opinion. I could sit through and enjoy that one, Solo just didn't click till about 2/3rds through the story. :(

Alden = new Han Solo? A bit cringy at the beginning of the film but he'll do if they bring out more movies involving the character.

Disney Star Wars movies have a high production value and are visually amazing.

Ok, so far it's Disney:2, Holiday Special:0.

Also, the movie showed han being a good guy the entire time. He wasn't the scum that the novels and of course Episode 4 told us Han was. Disney Han isn't George Lucas Han.

You didn't even catch the first guy's joke. Geez. Please go watch Richard and Mortimer, you are way too enlightened for us.

Oh man, Alden definitely did better than I expected... But there's more to it.

I know he loves the character.

For that reason alone I accept him readily as Han Solo, who's original actor just... Never gave a **** about him. Which baffles me, given Han Solo is by far the most interesting and well developed character of the original trilogy.

I am also not into Heist films! But yeah I know you were foolin'. :P

This other guy however... Needs to just write a heavily cited thesis already, geez...

Do you know what character development is? Han was once a really decent guy. Even the EU showed us he always had a heart of gold- what with how he saved Chewie against direct orders. Come on bruv.

Post-SOLO and god knows whatever happens to Q'ira, the woman he did everything he did, for, he's definitely the scoundrel we meet in 4. But we've yet to see how that goes. We will, though.

Since solo lost money, I wouldn't expect a Disney Solo movie for a very long time if ever.

And yet Alden was signed on for three films. People liked Glover's Lando a lot. There has been demand for a Lando film.

Expect to see him again.

Nah. I liked Rogue One. You're welcome to disagree though. :)

You must have wiped from your memory that he was a desperate, incessant, pathological liar for the first third of the film. He was a punk, not a "good guy".

Don't bother man, he's one R&M marathon away from godhood ascension. He has no time for us ants.

What did he do wrong for the first third of the movie? He was in poverty having to work like a slave for bad guys. There was really zero decision when he got the magical space fuel as the ticket off the bad planet and out of poverty.

He wasn't actively looking to screw anyone. He wanted to help and did the 'right' thing for most of the movie. I am blocking you as you are personally attacking me. Using personal attacks in your argumentation is childish. Good bye

🤨 Saying you blocked something from your memory is a personal attack. Wow... Might want to adjust your *** cork and let some of that hot air out.

Oh my god I actually just reread this.

You thought Han lived on Coruscant!?

And uh... Y'get that the empire was trying to kill a deserter right? That's not lazy writing or bad storytelling that's literally, "okay well now these Imperials are just gonna' off this deserter."

Not to mention, and it's pretty funny you missed this one, that Han could have absolutely learned Shyriiwook during his time on Coruscant. I mean Courescant. I mean SODDING CORELLIA, WHICH ANY STAR WARS FAN SHOULD KNOW BY NOW
