Just picked up the Game.

By DrgnScorpion, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hello everybody, I just got the game and as there aren't many players in my area I am wondering. How to do the deck building? I get Orc Rush as my friend uses all the Orc cards and just *****. I dont get how a Chaos Corruption works or any of the other terms. I have tooth and claw and am hoping to pick up other battlepacks soon so that I can flesh out my decks. So any help from those who play alot would be helpful. Thank you all very much.

For chaos to survice an Orc rush you're going to need several selective direct damage and/or corruption effects, and set up some support cards to stall for a slightly longer game, OR out rush them (naturally). Kinda tricky with limited card pools. With the two base sets, chaos vs. orcs, I found chaos had to abandon a zone entirely more or less (as far as units, support went in the one you abandon... obviously not abandonning battlefeild) and hope for beastman rush in battlefield... but its been so long since I've done core set battles, I'm probably totally off base here. lol

i'd agree- if you're working with one core set, i'd maybe give the contested villages to the orc deck & warpstone excavations to the chaos deck. so for the chaos deck only unit to go in kingdom zone is savage marauders, warpstones go there as well as other supports for resouces. so then focues on getting units into battlefield & quest (you'll be drawing A LOT - which helps when you don't have 3 of everything). when/if you get Wolves of the North quest, i'd definitely use that to then attack from there. and i'd agree with vermillian further that corruption (to prevent their units from attacking or defending that turn) and kiling off the smaller ones with damage to allow you to get through with units like chaos kights. Chaos is the toughest to get to work out of the four core set decks, imo. good luck & welcome to the game :)

Welcome to the community and to this great game! Good luck against the Orc Rush - it is currently a very potent deck archetype and will win far more than it loses, regardless of what you play against it (without a bit of luck to turn things around). Just try to analyze where the Orcs are effective and neutralize that with where you attack and what targets you focus on. :)

Thank you all for the support, I'm hoping tonight - wednesday, to pick up Ulthuan and i'm going to try and convince a friend to pick up the Warpstone Chronicles deck for the HE cards. As that is what he really wants to play are the HE's. What other sets augment the decks very well?

I don't know much about HE, haven't played them or seen them played much. But I would go to deckbox.org and poke around there. You can sort through the cards see what all the HE ones are and what ones come in what Battlepack.

For HE, i'd recommend Tooth & Claw for Dragonmage & Gifts of Aenarion. Also Path of the Zealot for Repeater Bolth Thrower.

Well, the battlepacks I just got were those two. Going to pick up Warpstone Chronicles and Assault on Ulthuan later. Friend built an Empire/HE deck and has been beating the painful orc rush by out rushing and surviving. Very fun to watch.

Deck Building: How does that work when it comes to say..a Corruption Deck?

key cards you'd consider for corruption are festering nurglings, Bule lord of pus, seduced by darkness, warpstone meteor, possibly melekh the changer, shrine to nurgle + juvenile wyvern, once you get assault on ulthuan consider also chillwind, dark sorceress, maybe dark riders - all as the core of your deck.

you'd probably want to rely on combat to take advantage of have less units to block you...so maybe chaos knights, savage marauders (best in kingdom early on), bloodsworn etc.

also i'd back up the corruption with some sniping damage to units then to try to eliminate as many as possible. but main focus should be on damage going strait to capital to win.
