Listen can we just move away from the TLJ, the debate is more stagnant than the western front. The new EU is unoriginal and feels like it rolled off a industry assembly line

I can agree with that up to a point. Seems a lot of the new novels - particularly those set prior to RotJ - have a common setup of “mysterious, nefarious large-scale mining operation undertaken by the Empire” running through them. The success of the execution varies.

But, that’s not much different than (now) Legends’ predilection for superweapons, and success of the execution varied there, too. For every Zahn, there’s a Hambly. For every Allston, there’s a Traviss. (Take whichever side you wish as the high and the low. 😁 )

Is it that I should accept uninformed opinion as the fact it’s presented as?

My point is that there are no empirical facts that TLJ is good or bad. It's all opinion. No matter how many times someone has seen it, their opinion that it is a good movie means no more than a negative opinion from someone that only got their TLJ exposure secondhand. Everyone can choose which opinions they like best, and crusading for "we've seen it personally, so our opinions matter more" is just silly,

Yeah, the mining ops theme is seriously overplayed. We know it all leads back to the Death Star, but it's stupid for everything the Empire does to focus on the Death Star. There's a whole galaxy of stories out there and we keep getting different angles of the same one.

It’s also not what I’ve said.

First person opinions are worth more than ones based on a second party’s opinion.

Nuh-uh!

I'm a virgin, so I've never had sex, but my friend had sex once and he said it was complete ****, so I know for a fact that sex is complete **** and anyone who says otherwise is a moron.
