Well then. That would certainly explain why Ebon fought being lynched so hard.

Gang, we all know Clon has to die this cycle. Thats not up for debate. But his accusations against Ebon also have a certain ring of truth, and I want to take a moment to examine them before the peanut butter murder party.

Clon claims to have attempted to recruit Ebon N2, so his failure to recruit Ebon could not have been roleblocked. (Question: Clon, what happened N1?) I assume he picked up Pod N3. Which also explains why Pod became a frothing beast intent on nothing but Ebon death. And I guess also mine, but I think thats because I was ready to lynch Clon yesterday. On a personal note, it makes me feel better that my early strong town read on Pod was right, it was simply subverted.

Now, I’ve already posted my frustration that aside from Clon, we’ve more or less cleared everyone in the game. So we were always going to have to go beyond the cop scans to find the final scum. So we can toss Hero’s scan result on Ebon out. It also means, if we still have scum after killing Clon, we should look back at Gnips, who is cleared only by read and my own scan. LP is cleared by lynch, myself and Cal by attempted murder, and Hero because if Clon is a mentor (and he has little reason to lie, at this point) then his scan result on clon pretty much has to be authentic. So the pool wasn’t that deep, but let’s dive in anyway.

Now, Ebon. Ebon’s play has been called out as scummy, and off, throughout the game, and by players that are cross faction. Pods persistence is now explained, but lest we forget, CV (now confirmed town) also really liked Ebon as a kill.

Pod’s death also makes a lot of sense if Ebon was the agent behind it, since Pod had been pushing him so hard, and given the D1 read and his counterclaim vs Bertie he wasn’t going to be hung in the daytime. Ebon would have to kill Pod at night, since he couldn’t know Pod was third party mentee.

Finally, and this is the most salient to me, Ebon has been on this cult thing forever. His reaction to seeing all these town power roles was less “No fracking way” and more “there must be a cult”. I think that reaction makes a lot of sense, if its coming from a place where he walked into scum chat, and saw only him and bertie. So he knew that scum as a single faction was underpowered. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was trying to draw out critics by floating the ideas early, and seeing who tried to kill the concept.

I just wanted to get those thoughts down before we tied a Clontrooper to the old oak tree.
