Special weapons and spending locks

By allistorpreist, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Silly question, but I am so used to 1e I am still making mistakes. If a weapons, say proton torpedo, requires a target lock to attack, do you still have to spend the target lock to attack with the weapon?

I have been playing it the old way (spend the target lock and the energy token) but there is some confusion since the new wording just says you have to have the marker. Thoughts?

Nope unless it says to spend it, keep it.

Good to know.

Note that this was the way it worked in 1.0 too.

Exactly. You never need to spend a token to shoot unless the card specifically says so. However, (almost!) all 1.0 munitions said so, so many players simply got into the habit.

That fact confused one of my HOTAC players.. But i think he's understanding it now..
