Faction crossing for 2.0 Huge Ships. (Which ship should be match to which faction).

By Marinealver, in X-Wing Epic Play

So now we have 7 factions (4 more than 1st edition) and we all know how long it could take for a faction to gets its own huge ship. The logical solution is to take the existing huge ship and permit them to be played with the newer factions, until they get their own.

So right now we have 5 ships.

  1. CR-90 corvette (Rebels)
  2. GR-75 Medium Transport (Rebels
  3. Imperial Raider Corvette (Empire)
  4. Gozanti Carrier (Empire)
  5. C-Roc Cargo ship (Scum)

and 4 new faction

  1. Resistance
  2. 1st Order
  3. Republic
  4. Separatists

So this is my idea of sending the ships out to the faction

1st up the CR-90 corvette. In revenge of the Sith we saw it being used with Senator Organa so it fits with the Republic. Also it is likely that Resistance could use mothballed ships.

GR-75 transport is likely used by the resistance. Someone will have to look up to see if it was made before or during the clone wars to see if it is with the republic.

Imperial Raider will likely be used by the 1st Order as they took a lot of the left over Empire ships

Gozanti will likely be 1stOrder as well but it could also be Republic.

C-Roc can be used by Separatists

So the faction huge ship break down is (faction ship possible ship)

  • Rebels CR-90 GR-75
  • Empire Raider Gozanti
  • Scum C-Roc
  • Resistance CR-90 GR-75
  • 1stOrder Raider Gozanti
  • Republic CR-90 GR-75 Gozanti
  • Separatists C-Roc

So that is my line up, what is yours?

i've actually proposed this in other threads about 2.0 epic ideas.. only i'd allow the pairing of smaller ships as well, using an allies matrix. you wouldn't be able to mix faction upgrades, but it would allow for some more diverse and thematic battles. i'd limit it to only two factions in a single squadron though.

Also in the new SW:Resistance show (in the pilot episode) we see a CR-90 in the service of the Resistance. it is even described as having served all the way from Scarif to Jakku. (and it matches the appearance and paint scheme of one of the unnamed CR-90's seen in Phoenix Cell in SW:Rebels)

Irony, faction locking Gozantis, the one ship used by everybody pre Sequel Trilogy in lore... The C-ROC isn't bad, but **** if FFG or whoever decided that only Imps should use the least modified version didn't have their head on backwards that day. Even the base unmodified version would have worked...

to be fair, the Carrier Gozanti in the game was used exclusively by the Empire.. the standard Gozanti used by everybody looks closer to the C-Roc. and the Imperial version was rather extensively modified compared to the base model seen in Clone Wars and TPM.

Not going to deny the first part (carrier version being promarily Imp), the second is wrong though.

Yeah, I was just getting ready to say the same thing.

The only significant difference between the imperial and “regular” versions is the imperial one extends the “wings” back to the engine pods. Other than that they basically look the same. The c-roc on the other hand completely changes the nose, adds a vertical tail, more engines. You really have to pick up the 2 models and compare them to realize they are actually basically the same ship.

To go with your images @mithril2098

The C-ROC

Big difference from the standard design.

additional engines and a new nose fairing vs major changes to the hull? (deeper, turrets added, 'wedge wings', etc)

1. The base Gozanti had turrets in Canon, they were pop outs instead of hard mounts.

2. If you look at the location of those modifications the engine installation was a more structurally intensive refit than the frame mod on the Imperial Assault carrier. Bulking out the area where cargo is strapped to is allot easier than securely attaching additional engines able to move a large amount of mass. The increase to the volume of the fore section of the C-ROC (those ain't fiberglass tuner body panels, they're hold space) from the standard Gozanti is equitable to the expansion of the cargo area on the Imp Assault carrier. The C-ROC was the more intensive refit.

3. I don't want every Faction to have access to the Imp carrier nor the C-ROC. The basic Gosanti with a hard point should be universal though. The only thing more common than it are potatoes.
