Scum Han & Dengar

By NeonWolf, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm a fan of Han Solo, in all his incarnations, but I only play Scum (until those sexy Republic ships come out) because I enjoy the dirty tricks. I know Large Base ships are not supposed to be competitive and that the JM5K is supposed to be horrible in 2.0 because of it's reputation from 1.0. Anywho, I think this would be fun to fly and might have at least a chance of winning some games.

Ok, so this looks fun, let's see if I have it right ...

Han is looking for lots of extra dice through obstacles and stressed opponents. Rigged Cargo Chute is going to help with that, as will debris, which you'll presumably be using as obstacles. You could potentially dump four (sorry, five!) lots of rigged cargo all over the map and then try and tractor people onto it, or blow it up with seismics. That's crazy and fantastic. I want to try it! :)

Have you looked at Koshka Frost instead of Dengar? Or maybe 4-Lom and another Quad? I'm thinking Dengar doesn't necessarily synergize with anything else that's going on, or am I missing it?

Also - you have Cikatro, what are you planning to swap around?

Cikatro is there to swap the Rigged Chute and the Cloaking Device between Han and the Quad. Could even slow-roll and end up with all three cloaked thanks to Jabba.

I know Dengar doesn't really synergize with Han but I was going for another I6 ship that could hopefully hit rather hard. I've played around with 4-LOM in a list with Han but not this particular version of Han, I'll have to go do that.

It's the kind of list that will take a few tries to work out I think. Action economy is going to be hard as the rigged cargo and tractor both take an action and for Han to make the most of all those dice he's probably going to want focus or TL. Koshka might hit hard and the Firesprays are generally awesome at the moment.

Yeah, probably take a few games to get the kinks worked out. Not sold on Koshka yet. I realize she takes advantage of the stress better than Dengar but she's only an I3. With my list above I can set down the Gunrunner then I can deploy Han & Dengar based on my opponents deployment. I'm I6 so don't care as much about a bid. If I try to do three Cikatro swaps I want to end up with the Cloaking Device on the Falcon, Cybernetics on Dengar, and the Cargo Chute on the Quad.

I did play around with swapping out Dengar for 4-LOM and came up with this. Added the Drone mostly to give the Falcon the silhouette from the movie.

After some more thought, I think I like this version more. I dropped Cikatro for Tobias Becket. Figured trying to remember to swap all of those Illicits around is just more stuff than I want to keep track of and would distract me from whatever my opponent is doing. Becket gives me a tool to mess with my opponents deployment and I still have Jabba to recharge the Cybernetics, Cloaking Device, and Cargo Chute.

With the Han+Dengar list I feel like I could focus more on flying the two large base ships and would have less action decisions to make. I think it would be a cleaner, simpler list to fly. Quad messes with positioning and blocks, Han does Han stuff, and Dengar just shoots stuff. He shoots stuff a lot if it tries to shoot him back too.

With the Han+4-LOM list I have more opportunity to hand out stress, which Han can take advantage of to hit harder. 4-LOM is no slouch on the damage output but doesn't have the double-tap ability of Dengar. The Escape Craft can be an added distraction early-game by flying it directly at any formations. It can either draw enemy fire or disrupt formations, while handing out at least one Coordinate if not more. Again, the Quad is there for blocking and position disruption.

This is all assuming I can actually fly either of these lists moderately well.

Anyone have any opinions on either list?

Fearless doesnt work on dengar since he has a Turret arc.

I was testing stuff in listbuilder for fun yesterday. Then I Saw this post :)

Fenn really want that bid, but the big battle is on I5.

Ah, good catch on Fearless and Dengar.

I'm uncomfortable with how poorly (almost nonexistently) your shots will be modified. I would definitely want more function there

@Greebwahn

which list are you referring to?

Most especially the initial one. Having to use Han's action for RCC makes him entirely vulnerable to dice variance. Dengar is a bit better but not a bunch.
