Wizard's Quest and Woodland Realm announced for retail

By Gandalf_, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Oh I see, guess I should have read it more closely.

edit: about shipping, FFG is pretty infamous for ridiculous shipping costs.

The only things that are identical with most of these cards are the names and art.

Does it mean that if you want to you can swap the new cards in old quest replacing older cards version without jeopardizing the quest design and make old quest nastier and more balanced with modern card pool? A sort limited nightmare variant, if you like. It could be a nice option to 're vitalize some old quests.

You could certainly try that, and it would be interesting. I don't know that all of the cards get nastier, though--just rebalanced. For instance, I don't know whether I prefer the original Eastern Crows (which always surge but have only 1 atk) or the new one (which only surges if there's a copy in the discard pile, but has 2 atk).

Thalin prefers the original Eastern Crows :).

I mean, I guess you can if you want, but it’s against the rules. It’s your game, though.:)

Ah ah. I usually follow the rules strictly but maybe this time I will be more flexible than usual

I think it works better to use the old quest cards 'head-to-head'; rather than use the 'head-to-head' cards in co-op quests. Some of the newer cards rely on your 'opponent' choosing to do something and it kind of breaks up the flow of the game. (disclaimer: no one around here has Wizard's Quest yet.)

Player created scenarios seem fairly common to me; there are a lot of good ones out there. The head-to-head stuff really plays well into that whole set of stuff. Given the glacial pace of 'official' releases, you might find you these a nice way to pass the time.

What has happened to these items - i put in on pre-order from a UK store so long ago now and still no real details on dates or printing that i can see, unless i have missed the obvious ?

Something to celebrate - both are finally listed as "On the Boat" today. 😀

Strange since they've been on sale in the UK for a month or so but at least the silence has ended.
