For as long as I can remember, the product page said conversion numbers were "based on dials". Just because other people chose to interpret it differently doesn't mean FFG lied.

Am I misremembering, or didn't the conversion kits come with four medium bases? Unless you're planning to fly five K-Wings or Punishers, four should be sufficient; and five of the heavies is enough of an edge case that I don't know that I can fault FFG for not catering to it, specifically.

So, let's say for argument, all secondary weapons were one point.

Which would be worth taking on ships with missile/cannon slots? Would any of them suddenly become competitive that aren't now?

This is a fair point. No, it's just the Firespray. Although, even that doesn't really want to take the available cannon upgrades (extended or not). And it super doesn't want to take any of the missiles.

In the second edition format there's a bunch of secondary weapons but in reality it's only Proton Torpedoes and only for Rebels. Which is fine, maybe? It's not an active problem for any platform but non-Vader Advanceds, although that constitutes a large percent of the Empire's pilots in the format. But there could be interesting choices were there currently aren't.

Range 2-3 Bullseye only. Many are of the opinion that it is nearly impossible to line up outside of range 1 other than against large bases. For any T-70 it means a 4 dice attack is available in bullseye from range 1-3 with S-Foils closed for 4 pts. BB unit + closed S-Foils on an HLC T-70 is going to be interesting to watch. Poe will just have an easier time lining it up.

Wave 3 has the Infiltrator. The token spread has all of the cannon tokens + the new debuff token... I think we're getting a new cannon in that wave. I could be wrong though.

I guess the real question is: how many cannons are canon?

That's the thing though. You throw Primed Thrusters onto Poe..? Whew.

You are going to have a really hard time failing to get stuff in your bullseye. Stress means nothing to PT Poe with Black One and BB-8, absolutely nothing. Like holy **** that action economy.

You really could operate poe as having 4 attack, feasibly.

Having multiple cannon slots could even allow the upgrades to stack, for some amusing shenanigans on B-Wings...

That is actually an interesting idea. Calibrated Laser Targeting looks like a really fun card, so something similar in cannon form could be interesting.

While you perform a primary attack, if the defender is in your [bullseye] and the attack hits, you may spend [hit]/[crit] result to inflict 1 ion token.

Messy wording, but you get the idea. Would be great on Defenders, B-Wings and Lambdas, without going all out with double-tapping.

1) In the q&a videos a dev said the conversion kits allowed every combination of pilots to be flown together for the numbers its shown as converting, so say all generics or all named pilots or whatever. you cannot with all the ship types.

2) the reveal articles specifically said you got all the components to upgrade all the ships included. so a rotating arc marker for each turret conversion, a medium base for each medium ship, etc., but that wasnt true. even if you own the exact number of ships the conversion kits lists, it wont convert all of it.

even a legal 200 point list like 3 generic Firesprays requires 2 kits

For example say my wife and I want to play a standard 200 point game with our scum collection using 2 firesprays and a kimogilla vs 2 ig2000s and a scurgg. as advertised that should be fine, except there arent enough medium bases.

this doesnt even address the issue of epic or the fact that a large percentage of us display and store ships on or with the base they go with.

its obvious that FFG just decided that conversion kits were for on meta tournament players only, and if you played large games or casual games you were screwed

This sounds like the most legitimate of your complaints, though I'd need to watch the video to see what was actually said.

That sounds more like an issue of trying to have multiple lists simultaneously from one conversion kit, which might be nice, but doesn't sound like a reasonable expectation.

With FFG and their app only operating via point value adjustments, and not willing to via the app ban a certain combo of Pilot A+equipment B while C is in the squad, I highly doubt that we get a stress cannon back.

Admiral Sloane very likely closed the design window of weaponised stress via a generic upgrade, like cannons, which Empire has access to.

Putting an HLC on *anyone* is fine. it's so limited in targetting capacity, especially versus small ships, that if you manage to get it lined up on your intendd target - good job, go you, well done. It takes skill to fly. Mangler is just a straight upgrade to primary weapon, which just shouldn't happen with a special weapon slot.
