Hi all,

Quick question regarding the falcon title, to which I can't seem to find the answer. Apologies in advance if this has already been asked...

If i equip the title, are all the conditions stated on the card available ONLY if you equip a shuttle?

"1 escape shuttle may dock with you.

While you have an escape shuttle docked, you may spend its shields as if they were on your ship card.

While you perform a primary attack against a stressed ship, roll 1 additional attack die."

Obviously lines 1 and 2 are linked to having a shuttle docked, but what about line 3? It doesn't state "while you have a shuttle docked" so i would assume that i can equip the title and attack stressed ships without docking a shuttle (or even having one in my list), but i've assumed things in xwing in the past and been surprised!

Line 3 is independent of shuttle docking.

yup. you still get the benefit of rolling an extra attack dice when attacking a stressed ship, no matter if you have a shuttle docked or not.

Hi, a follow on question.... When lando has L3 attached does he have 5 Shields for the purposes of benefiting from L3 ability or can I spend his 3 first and use the ability before spending the shuttles?

Only the falcon shields count for l3 crew. But note that crew on docked ships are not in play.

True yet Escape Craft applies its pilot ability to the ship it is docked to while it is in reserve which is what they're referring to.

You may use the first three, benefit from the ability, then spend the other two. Lando is not shielded after losing the three (he has no shields).

Added detail: keep in mind that the condition is "you may" spend shields. Why is this important? Well let's say the Falcon's shields are depleted, but the escape shuttle si not. The Falcon gets hit with a devastating attack: 2 hits and 2 crits. Since you deal them one at a time, you can decide to suffer 2 face down damage cards and then use the shields to absorb the crits. Always useful

But there was a discussion that the escape craft shields cannot be "spent" to absorb damage since taking damage does not "spend" them. Only inertial dampeners (so far) can "spend" them. So it is a useless ability except for that one upgrade. Was that resolved somewhere?

I don't think it was, but it's the clearest case so far of RAW not being compatible with the RAI by the developers.

I mean, I'm sure you're right, but for better or worse tournaments go with RAW.

TOs have to go RAW, because everyone can read the RAI differently. There was a huge crud-storm in the Armada community about a year ago when a TO very publicly explained before an event why he'd be going with a RAI interpretation of a card (Sloane), but not everyone shared that assumption that that was in fact the RAI.

So, the only safe bet is to play as RAW and trust that if the issues caused are grievous enough that FFG will actually step in and make an official statement, putting the issue to bed.

We actually have a case involving the Escape Craft where the the rules in the RRG as written were contradicted by a rules update here in the forums. I've emailed FFG asking for an explanation but haven't received a response yet.

Gist of it is, Autopilot Drone says "before you are removed each ship at range 0-1 suffers one (crit) damage". If you check the RRG for Removed from the Game (pg. 15) it says "After a ship is destroyed or flees, it is removed from the game." Then go check out Destroying Ships (pg. 9) and it states "A ship is destroyed after it has a number of damage cards that equals or exceeds its hull value".

So, RAW, if you destroy the Autopilot Drone by dealing it enough damage cards to destroy it, it is then removed from the game. Card text says it deals a crit when it is removed .

However, the Rules Update thread gives a simple "No" answer to the question of the Autopilot Drone dealing the crit if it is destroyed by any means other than losing it's 3rd charge.

The situation you're quoting isn't exactly internally contradicting, as the "before you are removed" clause of the Drone's ability is just a part of it's complex description. It's not an independent ship ability granting that whenever you're removed, you deal damage. The sentence only specifies the timing for the effect that's described to happen once you're removed from the game due to loss of the last charge token during activation.

Lol, yay English...

I can see you point and I'm not disagreeing with you. They usually do a good job of making the rules as clear as possible, this one just obviously caused some confusion.

well, i guess that means we'll be seeing even less of landos millenium falcon. it's a shame they didn't word the title properly for the spending shields part, but maybe it was intentional and we're going to see an upgrade card that requires you to spend shields that is really amazing.

it's also a shame that they only gave it two red dice for it's primary. it's a really expensive and really bad ship currently, which is a very sad state of affairs imho. it's just not doing enough for it's cost.

Ohhh. So if all shield on the falcon are lost and I undock the escape craft the craft will still have its 2 shields unless I spend them with Intertial Dampener (RAW). That's now how we played it but that fine.

At least if Qi'ra is the crew on the falcon I can still attack if I'm stuck on an obstacle that I've locked (at least that's what I understood from another discussion).

I agree with the Qi'ra allowing a ship to attack, but there are a bunch of folks onhere who'll spam up like 10 pages with the claim that since you can't start attacking, you can't get to "while attacking." It's absurd, since the check of the legality to attack must be part of the process of attacking, so you'd still be within the "while attacking."
