Scum and Villainy 83: Aces League, Mynock Open, Evergreen, and 4 Ship Rebel
So I want to talk about Rebels for a bit. We're doing it wrong. This feels like early 1st again. 4 ship rebels is better than 3 and Biggs is very very good.
We ran this at Evergreen: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Rebel Alliance&d=v5!s!75:130,-1,-1,-1,-1,165:;75:130,-1,-1,-1,-1,165:;7:-1,-1,-1,-1:;66:133,19,164,-1,-1:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=
Due to list building restrictions we couldn't run Juke but we'd recommend switching to Juke. Blair has some interesting builds off the variations. We found that it was one of our more successful lists and I think went 4-0 for us. I guess spreading damage is good? Unknowable.

Garret J went up against Guri, 4-LOM, Palob list in the final. His opponent didn't have Boba.

I think that Garret J list is the best scum list in the game right now. Quadjumpers can win you the game. I saw Blair tractor a Full health Boba to where they had no move that would keep them from flying off the board. Was incredible.

At the Michigan GT 1st and 2d were mirror 4-ship Rebel lists (Wedge, Jan, Dutch, Blue Sqd). I also made the top 8 cut with a 4 ship Rebel list (Wedge, Blue Sqd, 2x Gray Sqd Vet Gunner/Ion Y-wings). I think there was at least one more 4-ship Rebel list in the top 8 there.
All in what you build and how you fly it ...
Just hit the part covering Biggs and Simultaneous Fire. Take that and then take a good look at Resistance Chewbacca pilot's ability. It does apply to him (range 0-3 with no arc restriction).
Bottom left.

I think Wedge needs to be as cheap as possible. 4 ship the future.

The tournament was two days ago you already think you won a game that you lost how whacked out were you?
I lost the game. I'm replying during D&D.

how much of its success do you think was based on the team format letting you pick matchups?

Good question I can't speak to lyle and ricks games but I played into Spanish nationals and the mynock open winning list and thought they'd be tough games but the list handled them both pretty well. Aces are the real challenge obviously but it's gonna take a lot of shots to wear those guys down.
4 ship Rebel is where it's at in 2 variations. Biggs/Selfless damage sharing is one while the other is 4 Ship Quality. Examples of the "4 Ship Quality" are Luke/NorraARC/LtBlount/Sabine or Wedge/JanOrs/Sabine/NorraY. Do you want to fly in formation spreading damage or do you want to spread out your squad and setup kill boxes while having potential end game pieces?
What do you think about swapping the Attack Shuttle out for a HWK?

I want the latter. Always the latter.

Because it uses multiple cards/ships that are undercosted. ?

I played a list that had a shot at out jousting me. I thought it handled it really well. If I play that game again 10x I feel like i'd win 6 or 7. This was against a Jendon Bomber Swarm.

I think the Krayts call the former "Rebel Good stuff" and I agree it's also very good. Let Wedge be just him without the upgrades and he's pretty efficient.

Those are normally the top lists...

This was Sozin's proposal for a list. We ended up compromising on Sabine. I think Kyle is a fine choice!

I've won pretty handily with a list that is 4X's ... Luke (w/R4), Wedge (w/R4), 2x Blue Sqd Escorts.
Yeah, probably improved with Biggs/Selfless, but I don't find the damage spreading game to be much fun. Might swap an escort for Sabine though.
I think the biggest issue some have with spreading damage is it runs counter intuitive to preventing your opponents from getting half points on your ships and an edge in damage output. Every hp a ship drops is just that much closer to the opponent gaining the points lead or erasing a 2+ red attack from your squad. It may result in a ship staying around longer, but is that risk worth it?

Having all your guns up helps you eliminate their ships.
