Traveling with xwing mat

By sthej, in X-Wing Organized Play

I know this isn't specific to organized play per se , but it doesn't seem to fit anywhere else on the forum either.

When flying to an organized event, or anywhere else for that matter, how do you bring your xwing mat along?

I'm traveling across the country soon. I'm taking my xwing tackle box as my carry-on, but I don't know how to transport my mat (official FFG) or how much it will cost me to do so. It is larger than most checked baggage. Any sage advice?

Thank you!!

You should have no problems carrying it in one of these:

At least for international flights I am using frequently, poster tubes don't count towards your baggage limit an if are under 100 cm long you can have them as carry on.
Check with the airline you are flying if they have any special rules.

Confirmed. I use one of these to transport my mat. The strap makes it pretty easy to carry it around with other things.

cant spell apparently

Just writing to come full circle on this topic. I got a poster tube and have traveled on two planes without incident. (People were more curious about my giant tackle box [for carrying minis]). Everyone thinks I'm going fishing.
