My group (250 XP EotE base with limited access to non-lightsaber force classes and force powers) flew to Ryloth. I have some ideas, but I could use additional adventure prompts to fill out future sessions.
Quick Prompts for Ryloth
Start by describing your version of Ryloth. Legends and current canon are quite different.
1. The planet itself is probably the current canon, set a few years before Episode VII, but...
2. The setting proper is an urban adventure in Ryloth's underground capital/main port. So...
3. I'm willing to draw on both canon and legends sources for inspiration. Really, anything goes.

Did you read “Dark lords of the Sith” some of that takes place on Ryloth. The Clone Wars and Rebels have some Ryloth episodes.

Anything?
So, your game is 30ish ABY.
Yuuzhan Vong! Yuuzhan Vong! Yuuzhan Vong!
Ryloth is the headquarters for the Crime syndicate "Zann Consortium". Mainly operated during the Rebellion years as a thorn in the side of The Empire, but also sometimes fought the rebels. Considered basically to be a paramilitary "private army". Depending on your time frame it could still be around, even if Zann is no longer the head. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zann_Consortium/Legends
Oh, duh, I almost forgot. The Free pdf download campaign "Long arm of the Hutt" has its Chapter 1 take place on Ryloth. Has the group rescue a small mining town from bandits.
Ryloth is interesting because of its orbit making one side permenatly in light and one frozen in darkness.
having the party have to raid some compound located on either extreme would be fun.

Just FYI, this is no longer Canon. But OP said they are willing to consider legends. I agree it can be interesting.
I just realized this has similarities with Star Trek Romulan world of "Remus", mentioned in the (awful) movie "Star Trek: Nemesis". One side of the planet is forever in darkness.
*preemptively ducks for mentioning Stark Trek in a Star Wars forum*
Also of note, as the Home planet of twi'leks, Ryloth has long been known for its exploitation and export of twi'lek slaves. An adventure involving slavers, or the freeing of slaves could easily be a possibility.
Ryloth.
I was unaware that Ryloth was tide locked, but that's a neat twist. I definitely need to remember that should my players find themselves in that neighborhood. And if Ryloth is tide locked, there's a better than average chance that Ryloth doesn't have an orbiting moon. But according to Wookiepedia it has FIVE orbiting moons.
Yep, the Twi'lek's are slavers and the one bit that I picked up from Ryloth is that free Twi'lek's tend to wear a lot of clothing while slaves tend to wear little. So that could be used for detail.
And then there's the fact that Ryloth is a chief producer for a "spice." (EotE doesn't list it). So between the Drug & Slave export trade, the Zahn Consortium has it's hands full. Ryloth is probably a self sufficient agriworld (but probably barely) but would import pretty much everything else.
Ryloth governance seems to be more of a tribal structure with loose affiliations and shifting loyalties. There is a capital city but that's probably a 'first' among equals and a relic of the old Republic/Empire days were a World government was being propped up by Coruscant through the import of high tech, weapons, & consumer end products. Odds are VERY high that the local governors are held in check by the Zann Consortium, if the world isn't all out run by Zann.
And if it's not run by Zann, then someone a whole lot nastier than Zann came a long and replaced them with a bloody coup.
I envision Ryloth as a world of stark contrasts. Simple farmers scraping out a meager existence while crime lords dominate with unbelievable opulence & wealth.

Well, as @ThreeAM, mentioned, Ryloth was tide locked in Legends. In both Clone Wars and Rebels, it's clearly depicted otherwise, and actually having a day/night cycle. In fact, the entire geography and environment is completely different between Legends and new canon.

From Legends, and cannon as well, the Twi'lek's never developed space travel themselves. Rather, it was other Races that came to the planet to exploit it (slaves, spice, etc.). Because of its lack of space travel I think it meant that it couldn't really defend itself from being exploited. Because of this the government is very corrupt, being "bought" by outside crime organizations which have wide latitude. So while there is a government it is pretty powerless, and therefore couldn't effectively enforce any policies that would keep the planet and its people from being exploited.
For spice: its Ryll (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ryll/Legends). It has legit medical uses, so it is technically legal some places. Used in medical as a painkiller and anesthetic
Also from Legends, the Zann consortium deals largely in Weapons, and spice, but not so much slaves. I think the idea is they operate on the plant mainly because the law/government is too powerless to turn them over to the empire. But Zann's primary aim is to wage personal war on The empire (Because they kicked him out for stealing weapons
) and less so to run the planet. I think he only really uses crime as a means to fund his war.
Personally In my games I don't portray them as slavers, but rather as an "exploited race and planet" that cant free itself because it lacks the power. But there are some "resistance cells", and my game had a main focus of building one up.
*PS. My campaign spent a lot of time here as a main hub, so i am realizing that i probably know more about this planet than any other planet in the SW universe.
The Twi'lek slave trade is ugly and largely reflective of real world slavery because the Twi'leks sell out their own. It's not alien slave raiders that come and take the daughters of Ryloth away; the richest clans exploited the poor and sold them into slavery to enrich themselves and secure their positions. This means that much of the "old money" of Ryloth was made through repugnant means. You could even spin it a bit to have families selling off their "undesired daughters" to help make ends meet. There's an ugly moral challenge in looking at a family that sold one of their kids into slavery just so they could feed the other four siblings...
If you want to go with the tide-locked route and want some visual inspiration, find some pictures or videos from the Racer Revenge video game; which had tracks in both the Brightlands and the Nightlands of Ryloth.
