I certainly understand that the same ship can be in multiple factions (every faction eventually gets a TIE/ln), but what are people's thoughts on the ARC-170 in the rebel faction now. It seems with the release of the Clone Wars faction, it'd be nice if they would have held them out of the Rebel faction in the conversion kit, like they did for the rest of the Resistance ships. Did we ever actually see the ARC-170 used in the IV-VI trilogy era? I know you see them as a crashed relic in some Rebels episodes, but not actually in flight?
ARC-170 in two factions

What ships were held out of the conversion kit?
That would have seriously pissed off rebel players.

He said, the Resistance ships.
Hes saying , since the arc is more a republic ship and was never actually seen being used by rebels, that it also should have been separated out and just been a republic ship.
Dont know if I agree with that, but that’s what he was saying.

All of the Resistance and First Order ships. Could have just as easily said that the ARC-170 would have been part of an upcoming release, similar to what they did with the Resistance and First Order ships. Yes, probably would have upset some, and may have spoiled the plan for Clone Wars era before they were ready. Just saying that the ship is thematically out of place in the Rebel faction once the Galactic Republic faction comes out.
Well, they couldn't very well release a conversion kit for a single ship. For the old model to be of any use it'd have to be a part of one of the factions that got a kit, and only one of the five made sense.

Those were always tagged as a sub faction...
Yeah, I kinda wish they’d done that. I don’t really mind it being in Rebels, and I’m certainly glad it was there in first edition, but it would have been nice for it to be Republic only. Would totally have spoiled Republic’s existence if they’d just left it out and not said anything - the debate around that could have been fun!

Rebel: T-70 X-Wing, MG-100 Star Fortress SF-17, Scurrge H6 Bomber
Imperial: TIE/FO, TIE/SF, Upsilon Shuttle, TIE Silencer, Firespray-Class Pursuit Craft
Scum: Nothing.

Well, FFG may end up making the ARC an "Extended" only ship for the Rebels that never makes its way into the "Second Edition" squad builder list.
Which may eventually mean something.

Shouldn't have been in the faction in the first place.
The rebels should have lost the arc and the tie.

Just set the sabines tie models on fire?
I can see the arc argument... not the tie.

Because they shouldn't be giving away a factions most iconic fighter to their enemies just because? How would rebel players feel if scum and the empire had x-wings? Granted, the rebel tie is less offensive in second edition, but still, not a ship they should have access to.

But a tie was stolen by rebels in Star Wars Rebels.

If we gave the rebels a ship just because sabine touched one once then there would be no faction identity left. Besides, the Empire and scum have used x-wings before, so why can't we have them?

Sabine didn't simply "touch one once". The rebels stole it while fleeing and used it later. I don't see how having a rebel tie with only 4 unique pilots that have abilities that don't come close to what the Empire's identity is encroaches on the Empire's identity.

Nah, as a Rebel player I agree with @HolySorcerer .
The captured TIE was absolutely FFG scraping the bottom of the barrel when it came along in 1e. While it's true that in lore Rebel associated characters did capture, repaint and fly a TIE Fighter I don't think every aspect of the lore needs to be captured in game. I don't think even with the gameplay changes that having a garish TIE Fighter on the board fits our playstyle anymore than most Imperial players would.
Factions should be distinct, and I don't really like cross faction ships at all. I like that the Firespray and Scurrg are now Scum only, and I kinda wish that Rebels could have kept the Y-Wing to themselves. The HWK and Z-95 are the only cross faction ships I really don't mind.
The TIE Fighter is the iconic Imperial fighter. I know for a fact I would be pissed if anyone else ever got T-65s.

RIP Tie bomber. The Empire took the conversion the hardest. I also agree, Arc should have been Republic only.

What if we got T-65s with crew that you can't even shoot at? The rebel tie was a slap in the face.
Uh...kinda difficult to do republic only when your dang 1st Ed ARCs have rebel insignias painted on the wing
Not that I personally give a ****, mind. I'm going to be using my rebel ARCs as republic fighters because rebel ARCs suck (apart from Norra, but poor baby ain't got no support)
Just saying, there's a reason they came in the kit

So?? FFG could just call it a typo. We are all used to that. . .

I think it was less them scraping the bottom of the barrel and more that they REALLY wanted to produce a TIE with that paint scheme.

That's not how paint works
Also, anyone can type or write or an errata. Meanwhile, I sure as **** can't fix that painting "error" on the most beautiful model ever
So, **** it. It's a lovely ship, be thankful you're seeing more of it.
Besides, the republic and rebel ARC will be quite distinct. The rebel ARC is nigh on worthless, and the republic ARC hopefully won't be ?

Riiiiiiiiiggggghhhhhttttt. Calm down, Literal Lucy, I'm on your side.
If you ask me, there should be MORE cross faction ships. I would like to see the stolen Lambda in-game, and I'm an Imperial player.
Ack, people are still crying that the Rebels get a 4-pilot TIE fighter?? Whatever. In general, the pilot is what makes the ship, so who cares if it's an old model with a new paint job. If it gives the game options, then it's valuable. If it fits with the lore, then it's legit. And if it let's FFG expand the game faster with less SKUs, no one should be upset about "faction flavor."
And, as a non-converter, I'm lookin' at all those new paint jobs and thinking, "man, I need that."
