Using GMs Toolkit with The Gathering Storm

By Watcher2, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

This might be a little pre-emptive, and I realize that not many people will be able to reply to this directly, due to the fact that no one has their hands on Gathering Storm yet.

I was just considering ordering the GM's Toolkit and the Gathering Storm at the same time. That prompted me to wonder if FFG was going to have any notes or suggesions on using the optional rules in the GMTK for the campaign?

Seems like a neat way to promote both products.

And Amazon US claims the GMTK has not yet arrived? WTF. serio.gif

Say what? How can this be, I got my GMTK today and I'm from Poland (Europe). Maybe that's true what they say - that GMTK is all ready soldout.

About The Gathering Storm - You can easy use the GMTK with it but I don't think there's a special conection between them.

One thing still bothers me - Jay said that TGS has arrived and that they are shiping it out to local stores but the status in the Upcoming section has not change a bit (it still is At the printer). So when will we see The Gathering Storm?

And when the Living Index, FAQ and The Components List will be updated with the content of GM Toolkit an The Gathering Storm?

For other publishers with larger print runs I've never had an issue, but my experience with FFG products in general via Amazon is that it's very much a crap shoot. I pre-ordered the BSG boardgame expansion Pegasus and had to wait several months after its release. I'm not sure whether Amazon gets product directly from FFG or from another distributor, but I definitely ended up waiting for the second print run of that before my pre-order was fulfilled. Similar stuff has happened with Dark Heresy books. in the case of the GMTK, Amazon didn't even put it up for pre-order until after it was available via retail. Of course with the GMTK being sold out, it is obvious that Amazon is stuck waiting for the second priint run, hence the June 3 estimated delivery date. For most things the Amazon discount makes it worth the wait, but if you simply must have FFG product on or about release date, it's definitely not the correct route.

Thanks Mac.

And yes ffgfan, odd as it sounds Amazon is listing GMTK as a pre-release pre-order in the United States. They must deceptively divert to that status instead of saying "we're sold out". Aaah, the language of marketing.

Unfortunately money is an issue, so I will have to put up with Amazon's pre-order weirdness. Maybe they only order them in response to pre-orders? nd realistically, I don't need either right this second.

I'm looking forward to having a proper campaign pack. They're not for everybody, but I really enjoy them. I want to see if those Nemesis cards can be used with it.

Just some feedback, Amazon US tells me that they expect The Gathering Storm around May 18th, and GMs Toolkit around June 4th. Lets hope that is conservative, Otherwise I must abide.

i think something weird is going on with amazon. because i got the shuffle from them too and finally canceled my pre-order and calledmy local flgs. got it three days later!

Aye, I don't have a FLGS that isn't an hours drive. However Paizo has the GMTK in stock. I think I'll cancel my Amazon order for that, and ride out the delay on getting the Gathering Storm.

I ended up getting my GMTK from ccgarmory (Which was cheap and shipped fast, despite some bad reviews), but I'm waiting for Amazon on the Gathering Storm. We're still several sessions from being able to start it anyway, so getting it mid-may won't be a problem.

I might give them a shot. Thanks for the tip! I feel the same way about Gathering Storm. On that I can wait, but Mid June seems too long for the GMTK especially if CCGArmory can close to the same discount.
