ok guys we are discussing these 2 ships chassis and their future, lets not fixate on one single pilot.
Tie Interceptor and A-wing in a bad spot a for while

Why? People in this thread say he is no good (and not played in top meta) and then he shows up in 7 of the 8 imperial lists that made the top cut at a mojor tournament.
Perhaps that should be discussed.

Fair point, obviously Soontir is great in spite of the awful chassis.... ?

Great! The interceptor chassis is vastly improved. Alphas cost 2 fewer points, can take 2 actions with no upgrades to be able to reposition into a block/out of a likely arc while still having defensive dice modification. Sabers are 2 points cheaper and again don't need any upgrades to be able repisition with token or double reposition. Turr is a whopping 6 points cheaper and has an ability he can finally actually use.

I agree with you, You are right.
Wait, i've been misunderstood, with what i've texted i didn't mean that soontir is unplayable (cause it 's not thrue), i play it sometimes.
Sontir is a quite good ship.
I was only talking about his limits.
In my experience if you want that he survive to the end of the game to be effective is better if you whait some turn before to engage, staying far away the others ships.
So sometimes i feel to play with 1 ship less in early phases.
And he needs only 1 shoot to explode.

I' ve never said it can't happen. So....
I said if you arc dodge ALL ships you OFTEN don't shoot no one
The possibility to shoot and don't be shooten back with soontir in early phases clearly changes in every game.
It depends a lot (but NOT ONLY) by the NUMBER of ships played by your opponent and your MISTAKES.

Yeah except that Soontir still makes top tables (so you could really only buff the generics point wise unless you want to make him obnoxious) and therefore this article schould be called: The A-Wing is where they dropped the ball
But that’s what i did a few weeks ago and a lot of people would just try and make me shut up in this brave new perfect meta.
Glad that some people start to see it. The A has no sauce, and they have nothing in the pipeline for it. Dead ship.
This ship also had about as much influence on 1.0 as the Tie Bomber or Punisher. But while these got transformed into Elite pilot death machines with some of the best and cheapest I5 pilots, the A-Wing got its elite pilots essentially taken away and will remain gone from the meta for the forseeable future.
And since this has derailed into a why Soontir is great or not thread, i will give you my opinion on him.
He is very good indeed, but he is not the one man army that, if supported and kitted out, is unkillable.
But he is incredibly point efficient, and Action efficient if flown well.
The reason he does well right now, is because he still packs a punch if left unchecked, but you can’t prioritize him either, or Cloak and Choke Whisper and Redline rip you to shreds if you turn your back on them. And should you engage these 2, Soontir will flank and kill you. That’s a big part of why Imperial aces are still so very playable and strong. And what makes Soontir work too.
Edited by ForceMPower creep to the non-customizable Ints killed them out of 1.0.
Currently Ints and Awings are really boring. And I foresee them becoming either much cheaper or needing more customization options into the future.
A list I flew against that seems to have some promise is 5x GSP with crack shot and cluster missiles. It fixes the main issue with A-Wings (firepower), is plenty of HP to chew through behind 3 green dice, and is a nightmare of blocking potential for ace-based lists. They're tough to one-shot, so they're almost definitely soaking up at least 2 attacks each, which gives you several combat turns to put them to work.
I think maybe people need to just give things some time to shake out.
Oh, also people are missing that Jake's ability isn't limited to once per turn, so he can BR--->Focus--->Boost--->Coordinate Focus. Not bad.

Nothing like tying your fragile arc-dodger to less maneuverable ships ?

X-Wings are almost as fast as A-Wings now. If you're running Proton Torpedos, you might as well go with closed foils, and Jake helps you get that shot fully modded. As for being fragile, who would pick Jake as their target if he's flying alongside an X about to torpedo you? Run him alongside Garven Dreis, for instance. Move Jake, grab an evade or a lock, boost, and hand out a focus. Garven does the action, links into boost, does a blue, clears the stress and locks. Then he shoots his torpedo, and hands the focus back to Jake.
Sabine (TIE or Shuttle) is also a pretty decent, squirrely wingwoman for Jake, as is Gavin.
If you go back to the opening post you see that this thread was originally about the concern re-releases of the Interceptor and A-wing won't bring anything new for them like the Z-95 and Striker, which I still think is wrong. Or really hope it is in the case of the Interceptor and A-wing.

I have had similar experiences with Soontir as well. He works best when he is not the scariest thing in your list drawing the attention. I like pairing him with a TIE Defender myself because both are late game engines of death and most people are more scared of the Defender. I could see Vader also being a good ship to pair with.

You obviously haven't had Sontir Fel run rings around your Rebels for 10 turns.
With the announcement of Republic and Seperatist "Squadron" packs, I'm guessing at least a few in the future for all factions and some new pilots/paint jobs.
