Clone Wars!

By Force Majeure, in X-Wing

Anakin : I6, "After you fully execute... is an enemy ship in your... in your bullseye, you may... 1 [ indecipherable ]"
Probably "you may sp[end]?" Presumably a force? Last word might be stress (assign a stress to an enemy?)

Luminara : I4, "While a friendly ship at ra[nge]... [if] it is not in the attacker's... 1 Force. If you do, change... result or 1 Hit result to..."
Barriss : I4, "While a friendly ship at ra[nge]... an attack, if the defender is... spend 1 Force to change 1 Focus... result or 1 Hit result to..."
So I'm guessing: Luminara spends force to turn attacker's hits/focuses into blanks while friendly ships defend, and Barriss spends force to convert blanks/hits into crits while friendly ships attack, with a range and arc requirement?

Ahsoka : I3, "After you fully execute a... choose a friendly ship at ra[nge]... 1 Force. That ship may per[form]... if it is [ indecipherable ]..."
Hands off some form of action? Final line might be "even if it is stressed" or something.

New astromech does something involving maneuvers, and probably says "increase its difficulty"? Looks like two sentences - "[ indecipherable ]... may spend... while you... maneuver, ... difficulty." Two charges. So most likely "[When something happens], you map spend 1 charge to [do a thing]. While you execute that maneuver, increase its difficulty". The first line might say "a basic"?

Do we see a Republic only R2D2 astromech?

Let’s compare notes... ?

Mostly comparable. I wanna check out the last symbol on Anakin’s card again when I get home, though I don’t think they ever use the stress symbol on cards?

Anyone hypothesized what the new red token could be yet?

Looks very much like a reduced agility token to me....

This I am not keen on.

It is the same symbol as the Agility stat, so likely. It comes in the Squadron Packs and the Republic ARC-170 expansion, so I'm thinking a Dark Side force ability and the new Obstacles apply it.

They are also square, and therefore persistent.

I almost wonder if it slows your ship down..? But changing your maneuver speed by one could allow whomever it’s supposed to hurt to use it to their advantage.

Maybe -1 to agility while the token is there, but the next activation phase, you can’t dial a red maneuver, and the maneuver you do is considered increased difficulty for the “check difficulty” step? A bit wordy, admittedly, but actually just making it harder to fly? I could see Hate doing something like that.

It's also in the Sith Infiltrator.

And the amount corresponds to base size - 3 tokens with the Infiltrator, 2 with the ARC, 3 with 3 small bases in the squadron boxes. Could be coincidence.

I don't think it could be tied to the new obstacles, because anybody not running prequel factions wouldn't have any tokens? That'd be like only Scum ships including ion tokens, it's just weird. Possible, but weird.

New upgrades/card mechanic seems more likely. It's definitely the same icon as agility, so it would be weird if that wasn't it's primary effect.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but it looks like the 3-ship Republic pack and the Aethersprite single ship pack contain different pilots. No Anakin in the 3-pack, no Obi-Wan in the single ship pack. A few other art differences as well on ship cards.

I count 8 different unique pilots from both spreads.

@HelHound Yep. Anakin, Luminara, Barriss, and Ahsoka in the standalone. Obi-Wan and Plo in the 3-pack, and I’m assuming Mace Windu, and based on very limited info, likely Saesee Tinn as the final pilot.

@SpiderMana I’m hoping the greenish tinged pilot is Kit Fisto, he’s my fav Jedi. Of course then I’d have to buy a third Aethersprite to paint.

I mean same ?

But according to the picture here:

Tinn’s is green and Fisto’s isn’t. The other factor leading me to suspect Tinn is the length of his name. The blob on that card is pretty short.

I think for the purposes of balance, the CW Y-Wing ought to have slightly better stats than the OT Y-Wing (being that the Clone Wars Y-Wing was probably the top of the line Multi-Role of the day). Same goes for the Headhunters.

With the 2nd edition releases I miss the Mission based Scenarios and a 'Campaign' structure, not only was it good for beginners, but it adds a little extra to the gameplay options.

I wasn't too sure how I'd react when/if the Clone Wars was announced, but I'm kind of excited to see how it develops.

If an upgrade cannot be obtained within a faction's ships without the assistance of time travel, then the upgrade is not available in-faction.

A false statement is not made true by saying "well it might become true at some unspecified point in the future".

This has been a known thing with Runewars for over a year. Anyone following FFG's games was already aware of what they meant when they said all upgrades would be available to all factions. We saw it with the first few previews back in Spring 2017. This isn't news and it isn't false advertising. For anyone paying attention, it was to be expected that this is how the upgrades would be released in X-Wing 2.0.

? The Y-Wing was a dedicated bomber/Capital ship hunter, the ARC-170 was the "Multi-role fighter". They'll probably have different stats because they were vastly different variants, but "the purposes of balance" has nothing to do with that, with either the Republic Y-Wing or the Clone Z-95.

Vulture dial is pretty neat.

Now do this for the Sith Infiltrator!

Gives the Vulture flavor certainly. Want's to be doing straights or hards unless it is cutting in for a shot.

I think Anakin might actually just remove stress after ending a red maneuver with an enemy in his bullseye? Might have to spend a force point, but either way... I don't know, it feels underwhelming? Obviously could lead to some super powerful and fun maneuvering, if that's it. But.

It's Anakin. Don't recycle a T-70 pilot ability on him.

Okay so they like to fly like Tron bikes.

Hey, spinning is a good trick.

Nice old-school "digital" flavour. It reminds me of old computer games where you could go either turn 90 degrees left/right, or just go forwards.

I do plan on buying all of the new faction ships. What I'm hoping for from FFG is a list of the point values for the ships and upgrades like they did for the 2.0 initial release. I'd like to know just how many points a ship costs before buying it so I don't over do it like I've done in 1.0.
