Question regarding Hyrda Spell+Marked for Glory Interaction

By Solan, in Talisman

Okay, the fate of the game depends upon the answer to this question. I cast Marked for Glory against the Lord of Darkness and my opponent cast the Hyrda spell, which copies a spell. The Hydra spell also says to ignore timing restrictions, so we thought perhaps it would copy the Marked for Glory and he could use it on his next roll. So I beat the Lord of Darkness on 8+ and went to the Crown of Command space. My opponent was in the Inner Region on the Crypt space, so when I sent the Grim Reaper to him he used the spell he had copied to send the Grim Reaper back to me, and I was killed.

Now, does the Hydra spell work this way? Could he have copied my Marked for Glory and used it on his next roll? Any help is appreciated.

I assume you are playing with the Danse Macabre. Grim Reaper can't come in the Inner Region (you were on the Crown of Command) even with this Variant, this has been clarified "half-officially". There has been some discussion about this in the rules section and J.Goodenough gave that answer to someone via e-mail. So neither your GR move nor your friend's trick was legal.

For the "ignore Region & Timing restrictions" interpretation of the Hydra Spell we're still waiting for an official answer. I sent a request last Saturday but no answers for now.

it's useless to copy the Marked for Glory with a Hydra spell if a opponent battles the Lod.

Hydra spell copies the spell, and you can cast it immediately on all other opponents

But Marked for Glory is a spell that gives a character ( up to 6) on a die)

The Hydra spell has no effect on the Danse Macabre ending to command the Grim Reaper. it's meant to duplicate spells from opponents.

And as The_warlock said: Grim reaper cannot enter the inner region, (even with this ending)
