Yes Han has a better story and arc and here is why:

Because cassian is a cold blooded killer and he refuses to shoot galen 2 seconds before he still dies from alliance bombs. Sure a change of Heart, but since galen (a character we barely know) dies directly afte. It dosen't have the same impact as Han coming to the rescue.

He fought since he was six years old, but why? Han cared about saving his own neck (nothing noble but a clear motivation). Cassian cares about...something maybe that happened when he was six.

I just don't know who he is or why he does anything. Sure Han's character is simple, but it's there. Cassian is just a irritaded guy who kills for the rebellion because reasons. Then add the fact that rouge one was made a few years ago with way more money, talent and resources avaiable to it than a new hope back in the 70's.

However it's just my 2 cents. I just don't get what people see in this movie before raddus shows up at scarif.

To me, the choice does what it was meant to do: show who Cassian is. The fact that the choice never mattered was a cruel twist of fate, but it still speaks volumes about Cassian's character development.

As for why he fought: it's not hard to guess why a six-year old would take up arms against the Empire. His parents/village/planet/people were fiercely independent/ethical/in the way/had a valuable resource and were shot/enslaved/bombarded from orbit/whatever the Empire did to Owen and Beru. Among countless possible scenarios. Cassian not talking about specifics makes it all the more powerful, because that shows it's clearly something painful that drives him while keeping him closed off.

My 2 cents. "Good" is subjective, but I think he's a good character.

You say the lack of backstory makes it more powerful, however it may just be that a Stormtrooper took His ice cream once when he was six.

Sure we can make up crasy interesting fan fiction for characters and movies, but why event go see a movie then.

I guess se have to agree to disagree because we have two completly diffirent ways we absorb culture and meabing.

You seem to practice the Umbral Arts as well @Noosh

From whence does it come from, I pray?

You are but one disciple of Doomsday.

By Definition, a Thread Necromancer's additional post has to be inane or offer no information of substance.

This one Did.

Not Thread Necromancy.

I guess I'm not clear on exactly what you're referring to, then. Could you elaborate?

Whoops! Ignore this!
