Unless I'm missing something either Han doesn't give a second shot just gives an i7 shot or he does but you can only shoot from the opposite side of the double turret for the second shot. If it's the latter and you have targets in both arcs, more likely than not at least one will be range one, losing you 2 attack dice. Bistan is better value shooting out of the same arc at range 3.

you're missing something, yes. at the start of engagement, you use roark to let dash engage at i7. dash engages at i7 and fires his weapon. you then attack with han gunner at i7. han shoots last, but well before anyone else can.

bistan is laughable value compared. he cannot fire at the same target, you have to be focused to get his bonus attack - and he shoots at i5, not i7. he is also 14 points, not 12 like han.

i suppose he will work without roark garnet, though, so he's still a very good gunner.

dash/roark will pretty much just delete a ship every round, though. frankly, i think it's very broken. super easy to fly and super huge double attacks. double turret arc on a large base with coordinated double focus and every posibility to rotate your turret even if you fly over obstacles is no joke.

Bistan is really good against high ship count lists ... the Roark build really struggles against them. Both builds have strengths and weaknesses.

On the Roark list, I found it was easy to fly, but hard to fly well. The trick is to keeping your HWK up in the fight, and preferably drawing some fire as usually Dash will have spent his tokens maximising damage at i7. Roark's primary has the power to finish off bigger HP ships like Punishers that might have survived the volley, or to clip a shield here and there in set up for next turn.

This appears incorrect in the RaW. Roark lets you shoot at i7 but not out of sequence - it is still just during the standard engagement phase and doesn't give you a shot first at i7, it simply ALLOWS you to shoot at i7 during the normal shooting sequence. This is exactly the same ability that the Han gunner also provides. I would expect this will get clarified in an FAQ soon enough.

And in the main rules: Each ship only engages once.

Roark plus Han gunner does not let you shoot twice (and I'm an exclusive Rebel player so I wish this wasn't the case). The only cards that let you shoot twice explicitly state this such as Bistan, Ezra etc.

It is clarified by FFG.

Question: If a ship with Han Solo [Rebel, Gunner] engages at initiative 7 (through Roark Garnet, Heightened Reflexes [Force Power], etc.) and performs its primary attack, can it subsequently attack from the same turret arc using Han Solo’s bonus attack at initiative 7?

Answer: Yes. The ship can resolve the two effects in either order, and so if Han’s bonus attack is resolved second, it can perform both.

That's me told then ? . Where was this officially answered (so I don't look like an idiot again)?

han simply lets you attack. you do not engage with the ship he's on to do it. it is a bonus attack, though, so no tripple tapping. ?

Serves me right for not looking there first. Han in a KW looks interesting then. Turret fire AND ordnance. Obviously not as good as on either YT though but no need to take Roark to make that work. VCX and YW with added turret is also interesting.

Only just getting back into XW after a year away playing Armada instead.
