stopping bases sliding around?

By LTuser, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

For those who use your own mats, often made on those vinyl posters, what do you do to make the bases less liable to slip??

One of the methods i've heard others use is gluing a washer onto the bottom of the base.. To give it a bit of weight..

Who here, uses that? Who uses other methods?

I tried foam rubber on a few. It worked nicely for me.

I had a guy that made me foam rubber for small and large bases.

for medium bases i used a two component silikon to fill the base, it not only adds weight, I filed the silikon like 0.1 or 0.2 mm over the edge, and thats perfect for anti slip :)

I've tried the washers, but I must be using the wrong glue because after a while, a drop from the table or just jostling around, the washers have popped off.

Also, you can get a small sheet of foam rubber from pretty much any craft store for about $1 or less (roughly 10x12) and you can cut that with scissors.

I used superglue on mine..

Foam rubber, clipped to size.

Then there are professionals having these on sale as well.
