The Jakku Gunrunner appreciation thread

I agree that the moldy crow hwk is a steal right now. But I hope they will not touch the chassis much, since without the title is quite toothless

And the 10 points suggested would nust about remove them from the game completely. It’s got less survuvability than an X-wing, and less maneuverable. +10 would make even the best pilots objectively bad choices. Running one naked with the title at 50 points is about right for most, except perhaps Palob. Palob is a bit too cheap.

This. Palob is currently the same price as Kyle. Palob is amazing, and Kyle is barely playable.

Would it balance Palob at all if his ability were Mobile Arc only?

This would at least be an incentive to use Torkil more, since he does not have an arc restriction (and also not the range 2 restriction).

It would for sure make his ability weaker because harder to dodge

Torkil requires the target to be in arc... Or did you mean it doesn't specify the type of arc?

Bad wording on my side, sry

With the theory crafting "what if Palobs ability was mobile arc only", I think Torkil becomes more attractive, since it works from the moldy crow arc and the mobile arc

Just to bring up an issue, Torkil needs second player. If he enters the meta then expect large bid heightened perception Force users or large bid Roark to become very common.

Yes, but he'd probably still be a little too good. Like the gunrunner and redline, he just needs to go up in points a bit to balance out his high efficiency

FWIW, if Palob is the only hwk that gets nerfed (and he probably should be), Torkil is still an excellent option

After hating tugboats in 1.0, it might be my favorite ship in 2.0 so far.

I've played 3 games with it (only using a single on in my list), and 2 of those 3 games were against imperial lists with whisper, and in both games the gunrunner got the final kill shot on whisper to end the game using his primary.

For me, it is the unblockable part that makes it strong. No dice or tokens are used, you just get tractored. . .

This is it.

There's very little counterplay, which unfortunately makes it dangerously powerful and needing of a slight increase to edge out over-spamming.

The devs weren't blind when they made this, though. They had allllll first edition to consider the long term effects of unavoidable triggers.

In other words... It's on purpose . This ship ability is one of those "counter cards" that creates a permanent "hard-counter", so-to-speak, for bad ace play or ace only play . I think the point was to help reinforce creative and mixed squad building to meet a wild variety of threats (such as j.gunrunners).

Games like this need a few elements to counter the mainstream of game play or it gets flat and predictable.

In that sense...the tugboat is a gift to the game to keep things interesting for everyone.

Thanks for the thread, @Okapi !

Thanks for the thread, @Okapi .

I might add, it’s unavoidable only by dice, not by maneuvering and planning.

Top 16 being stream today.

5 lists with spacetugs made tops 16, 2 of which (both with 1 Gunrunner each and with a slightly different variance of Kavil, LOM, Gunrunner, Palob) were ranked in the top 8. If I'm reading right, the only undefeated list was a Jonus Bombers list , scratch that a Kavil, LOM, Palob and 1 Gunrunner list is also at 6 pts (which I think means no losses). Only 5 lists with Boba made top 16, none ranking in the top 10. Only 1 Guri list (fat Guri paired with a Gunner Han Boba) made top 16. Only 4 Palob lists made cut, 2 in top 8. 4 Punisher lists made cut, 3 in top 8 ranking (all 3 Deathrain, Redline, and Juke-Vader Whisper). Both Rebel Lists that made cut ranked top 8. Only 2 Fenn Rau Fang lists made cut, that is interesting. Looking forwards to the final results.

6 Jakku Gunrunners in the top 4.

Because it's too good for its cost.

You're watching the stream? The standing's list hasn't updated.

2nd: Boba, Palob, 2x Jakku

3rd: Kavil, Palob, 4-LOM, Jakku

4th: Boba, Palob, 2x Jakku
