Same card, multiple players

By Korvanus, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hello all,

Just got the books on the weekend, curious as to how everyone handles multiple players using the same action, talent, career card, etc...

While it seems simple enough to share, what about cards that are on recharge or if a player wants to use the opposite stance version of it.

Thanks,

Korvanus

One of my players bought a copy of the game as well as me so I don't have to worry about this too much but...

If I needed a third action card I would settle for a colour photocopy of the card or I would photoshop my own version of the card.

I don't allow my players to get the same cards ever (except for basic and advanced actions obviously) and they love it. Each character must be unique and interesting!

If you just need a fourth set of basic/improved action cards - get the Advanturer's Toolkit - it has a lot of cool stuff in it! If you need even more copies of just the basic and improved action go ahead and make photo copies - you'll probably need a set for yourself as a GM anyway.

Absolutely. I had this very experience last weekend when my players were all spending their advancement points. It generated a lot of talk about the various roles of each individual of the party. Good stuff.

So far we haven't had competition for them yet, not sure how we'll handle it when we do.

I agree; it just hasn't come up much within my group. We have three core sets and two ATKs between us, and STILL nobody has repeats of cards; the system itself seems to encourage quite a bit of diversification, which makes gameplay pretty neat. Everyone has his or her own role and therefore feels useful/special at some point in the game.

That being said, I guess if it were a big deal among my players, I'd let them take one or two duplicates, photocopying if we didn't have enough.

I made colored Copies of the Basic Action cards.

On demand I copy even Career Cards. I had two players who wants to play the same career.

The GM toolkit book mentions players using more copies of cards, but that using only one set of cards for the game promotes diversity within the group which I agree with. As with other games and because of how some cards seem better than others, letting players use the same cards can lead to issues with the groups being too similar. Having only one card for a particular action and talent promotes the group be more diverse which I think the game heavily promotes along with stuff like the party sheet and tactic sharing.

Kor, We pretty much do the same as we did during WFRP2 and there was only one rulebook...

We either write it down or make a copy

We do it the same way. We randomly careers at the same time, with no duplicates allowed, and action cards as a group, so that the group can decide what is important for each player to have.
