London Master 2018

By Zamalekite, in Star Wars: Armada

Seems like there aren't many Londoners active on these forums (could be wrong!) but yesterday we had the London Masters 2018 at Warboar, SE London and I thought it worth giving a shout out for anyone interested in the SE England meta!

Thanks once again to the amazing @florianhess for organising a fantastic event!

We had 28 players and after 4 rounds @RikkiP emerged victorious with a stonking 39 points and MOV of 1408!

Here's the winning list (which players in the Vassal Autumn Tourney might recognise!)

REBEL FLEET (400 points)
1 • Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette - General Rieekan (66)
2 • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - Flight Commander - Fighter Coordination Team - Yavaris (68)
3 • Modified Pelta-class Command Ship - Flight Commander - Adar Tallon - Fighter Coordination Team - All Fighters, Follow Me! - Phoenix Home (84)
4 • GR-75 Medium Transports - Toryn Farr - Comms Net (27)
5 • GR-75 Medium Transports - Bomber Command Center (26)
6 • Gold Squadron Y-wing Squadron (12)
7 • YT-1300 (13)
8 • YT-1300 (13)
9 • Scurrg H-6 Bomber (16)
10 • Jan Ors Moldy Crow (19)
11 • Hera Syndulla Ghost (28)
12 • B-wing Squadron (14)
13 • B-wing Squadron (14)
14 • Objectives - Precision Strike - Fighter Ambush - Superior Positions (0)

Gotta give the Pelta some proper respect!

Top 8 lists can be found here:

Top 8 by commander:

  1. Riekaan
  2. Thrawn
  3. Vader
  4. Mothma
  5. Raddus
  6. Sato
  7. Screed
  8. Jerjerrod

(and I was 9th with Dadonna)

so the meta is there is no meta :D

England meta is weird. 0 ecm until you got 7th. Lots of larges completely eschewing def retros entirely. Most ISDs are 1's or Cymoons that don't even have the slot. RBD occurs before ECM rank wise, as does early warning.

That's very interesting to me.

Against how many of the top 8 would ECMs provide significant benefit? Against Rieekan Aces, Avenger, Intel Officer, Rammers or a thousand cuts? The UK has teched against ECM for a long time. It suprises me how much US fleets rely on it.

That's a really varied top 8.

And there wasn't a single Imperial 2-ship! I was hoping at least one player would bring a 2-ship fleet as I'm interested to see how it would perform. Personally I quite fancy giving Imperial squads a go but sadly can't find a Quasar anywhere in the UK that isn't ridiculously priced :(

Sorry I was meaning the 2-ship with Quasar and ISD that's been discussed a fair bit lately. Should have been more specific :)
