Triple interceptors

Anyone flown them with any success? Just threw this together with no real experience of Imperials in second ed because it looks fun.

With the cost of them now, I'd almost rather take a Defender with 2 of them. I just feel like 3 of them is going to be tough to avoid one of them getting smoked pretty quickly with all those upgrades points going to waste. Plus it has very little room for error. So many ways to lose your actions or end up on a bomb or something and these things go down fast. Just my opinion but I think even a low initiative Defender has a lot more staying power and will do more than that Alpha Interceptor.

Honestly I prefer them a bit stripped down and getting Soontir Turr and 2 Sabers but that’s me.

Also Afterburners is almost wasted on them

Hrm. Interceptors are going to have a bit more flexibility in positioning, but Concordia Face-Off is an amazingly powerful ability, and TIEs can't really approximate it.

My gut says, no, it won't really work, at least until there are new pilots. Fenn Rau's ability is stronger than Soontir Fel's IMHO, Old Teroch is quite powerful, and even Kad Solus can contribute. Turr, at best, is a "contributor."

However, I think this rough build--Afterburners/Shield is probably the right way to go. A little more crit protection, plus Afterburners increase the mobility of the slightly-more-mobile TIE Interceptor. I get it being kind of overkill, but the only real advantage an Interceptor has is the fact that it can both boost and barrel roll. I like Outmaneuver on Soontir Fel (I love it on Fenn Rau, too), but I'm not sold on Predator on Turr Phenir. Daredevil might be an interesting option, since he'll still be able to barrel roll after a maneuver, or Elusive. Turr is going to be better at taking red moves than most Interceptors, since his pilot ability works while stressed, and he'd probably have a better recharge.

But until we get the Carnor Jaxes and Kir Kanoses and Ciena Rees of the world, I think Triple Interceptors will simply be a worse version of triple Fang.

This makes sense to me, using the relative cheapness of Interceptors to run four at decent pilot skill, rather than overloading three.

Heck, Soontir + 4x Alpha is 188 points before any upgrades.

I've seen 5 sabers work surprisingly well.

I personally want to run 2x Saber, Fel, and Turr, all with predator, and with the named guys having Hull Upgrade. Run the 3 Initiative 4s in a wedge with Turr on the side away from rocks, and Fel as a flanker
