I thought the article below would be worth sharing around the place. Feel free to discuss and share your thoughts - hopefully FFG will trawl through here at some point and take note.

I would add ALT DICE!! If you do alt dice for upgrades and now mods, the player still has to have the card to use the dice, so no loss of income. FFG just has to make sure if they do an alt art dice they don't do the card down the line.
In Australia we don't get Galactic Qualifiers, so the quarterly kits are all we would see, so keeping players and even getting new ones is very difficult.
I imagine alt dice would be a logistical nightmare - not hating the idea. I'm guessing part of their timing issues relate to printing dice.
I'm in Australia too, it sucks that we don't see GC prizes unless someone brings it home...
Spot on with needing monthly prize kits. There needs to be more reasons to throw regular tournaments. Tying them all into the current set makes sense too. If they would plan ahead, then there’s no reason the kits cannot be printed using the same tech and quality as the set itself.
Which brings me to alt-art dice. In my opinion this is a must have for the legendary level prizes. If they’re planned at the same time as the set, they shouldn’t be that difficult to make.
I also think there needs to be a league kit for every set that rewards casual, league style play. The less competitive social players that don’t enjoy tournaments either need alternative formats or league kits to get them into the store.

I have contacted FFG and Cascade Games, we have a hoard of people that would take the game to our many conventions and tournaments, while they would have to box up prize kits and such it wouldn't be that big an effort. I think if more people from Australia speak up and contact Cascade and FFG something may change - squeaky wheel and all.
Perhaps the distributor could step up?
Right now it seems to be a problem of communication, FFG isn't asking anything of the distributor and he isn't asking either. Mind you there are many players that would also step up if given a chance, "pick me, pick me!"
As for the dice you are right, but how many sets of shield tokens do you want?
Have a look at creating the Destiny Organised Play Experience, like DCI, players get a card and register their play at various events. This is important to FFG because they get immediate feedback on player numbers, player retention and more. You could even have players register their decks on line and track metrics on card and character use. Have an app and give a player 2 points for each game they play in a DOPE store, then allow them to trade points for stuff.
Also, get the game online, rush! Card games are changing and the void between analogue and digital is vanishing. Optical Card Recognition can push real life card collections into the app, and the app bring players to a larger community.
You know, I give Konami a lot of crap because Yu-Gi-Oh is a pretty poorly designed game but they really do support their game. Not only do they ship participation packs to stores for locals(monthly) free, they do quarterly and yearly events with playmats and lanyards, etc. They also have a player I'd system that tracks events and let's people see where events are being held. I would love to see FFG do similarly.
