is a S-Type Racing Sloop realy a Freighters and Transports?

By Mefyrx, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

yes I get that, but from my understanding of this definition

a freighter is a transport

a shuttle is a transport

a transport (the book category) is a transport (definition)

now, how would I divide into categories the transport (the book category) and the freighters into meaningful groups....so that I don't dump everything into the same container transport (definition)

Well the other guy went into size of the ship... might not be a bad idea..... anything with < 250 encumbrance and <20 passenger into a group and put the other one into the other group

Maybe I should call this Light Freighters and Heavy Freighters... and get rid of the Transport (book category)..... its just that Transport is a more ....intuitive/beautiful name than .....Freighters...which feels like a business/factory transport even though that's not what a YT-1300 would do... it's like a mini-van and a 10 wheels truck.... lmao.....they are both trucks/transport....

So I'd like to make a category with all the >= 8 wheels trucks (I though it would be Freighters)

and then another with all the <8 wheels trucks (and that Transport would be the name to use there)

but maybe there are better names....

On another note, I think I got the wrong picture for the A-Type Stiletto......it's the same picture as the J-Type Star Skiff......think someone got it wrong on Star Wars RP's website.... so this might indeed be a starfighter

note to myself:

modify yv-929 weapon

MC80 Liberty - Type Star Cruiser -> description change hyphen

Dreadnought – Class Heavy Cruiser -> wrong stats
7/2/-2
1/1/1/1
4/7/100/40
7,200,000

A-Type Stiletto -> replace picture

D-Type Stealth Freighter -> replace picture

Cybershop Ship -> add corvette picture CR90 modified

Well could be a Liner from Sturn's description ....but I'm not sure

Liner: Large civilian craft of any type. Commonly combined with Passenger or Freight.....

but that is the purpose of the ship....

A Liner usually refers to the larger vessels, namely capital scale civilian vessels.

I think I'll go with these:

Airspeeders

Capital Ships (Heavy)

Capital Ships (Light)

Capital Ships (Medium)

Capital Ships (Titanic)

Utility and Exploration Ships

Freighters (Heavy)

Freighters (Light)

Landspeeders

Shuttles and Yatchs

Space Stations

Starfighters and Patrol Boats

Submersibles

Walkers

Wheeled and Tracked Vehicles

Capital ship after all designate any combat vehicle > 100m. I'm just agglomerating 100-500, 500-1000, 1000-2000, >2000

That also removes gunships which felt like a useless category that I think the game was getting rid of...

dividing the transport into 3 groups makes it easier.... shuttle, freighter (light) and freighter (heavy).... I don't have to question myself where to put them....to regroup the similar together....

Truth is should be dividing the airspeeder, landspeeder etc ....but I think it will be too much trouble.... best would be two-three subcategory.... but they would be too spread apart...

wondering if the "C-ROC Gozanti – Class Light Cruiser" shouldn't be an armed transport....therefor freighters (heavy)

For what it's worth, in the nubian design collective's whole vehicle crafting handbook (over in the age of rebellion forum) I eventually merged the freighter and shuttle frames into a single transport frame because there wasn't enough game mechanical distinction to justify having both as separate frames. Shuttles and freighters are crazy similar from a game mechanics perspective.
