Are Linked Actions Considered Triggered Abilities?

By Enervata, in X-Wing Rules Questions

This question came up because triggered abilities can be added to the front of the ability queue in some cases:

If Dalan Oberos (StarViper) completes a 3-speed maneuver and triggers Afterburners, can he perform a linked action from that Boost before resolving his pilot ability (which also triggers off of completing a maneuver)?

The strict definition of as ability is defined here:

Page 2, Abilities: Some of the text on condition, damage, ship, and upgrade cards describe abilities. These abilities consist of a timing and an effect.

Technically actions and linked actions are icons / symbols, not text as such and may exist as their own design space thing. So the case may be that linked actions are added to the ability queue by game rule and not triggered ability. If so, the above scenario would fail.

So the question is, are linked actions considered triggered abilities and as such are eligible to be added to the front of the ability queue, or are linked actions added by game rule and as such are always added to the end of the ability queue?

linked actions are simply added to the front of the ability queue. see rr below:

so after dalan completes a 3-speed maneuver you can decide in which order to add afterburners or his ability (because they trigger simultaneously). lets say you want to use afterburners first and then his ability.

when you resolve afterburners you add the linked action to the front of the queue.

you then resolve the linked action (e.g. focus) because its at the front of the queue and then resolve his ability.

i agree, he can. afterburners and his ability trigger at the same time, after he performs a maneuver. you choose in what order to add the abilities, if you choose to use his pilot ability and turn him, he receives a stress and can then boost with afterburners. if you trigger afterburners first, he can first boost with afterburners. if at this point, you want to perform a linked action (boost -> focus in the starviper scenario), that is added to the front of the queue and performed before the last ability in the queue, receiving a stress to turn him.

I'm confused.

How can he gain stress but then still perform a boost action?

Afterburners work while stressed.

Oh yeah!

sorry!
