All right folks, it's that time of year when we need to start looking at January and the 2019 World Cup! The premier Vassal tournament is going into its 4th year, and as we approach we need to solidify who's going to be playing in the tournament. The tournament each year is 32 slots with a unique Pod > Single Elimination format, with those 32 slots given out to winners and finalists of previous tournaments, and those that finish the qualifiers! This year's qualifiers are going to be simplified:

First, here's who is already qualified.

Total Qualified: 21

Unique Qualified: 18

Pending Slots - Autumn Tournament Top 4: 4

Open Slots: 10 to 14

How do I get Qualified?

Get 21 points playing in Vassal games.

Any limitations on this?

Nope. Play in a Vassal game, finish the game, post your final score here. Any game on Vassal counts, and adds to your total. I only care about tournament score and not MOV. The other player doesn't have to be participating to give you points, though if they decide they want to, they'll get whatever points they earned from your game as well!

Does the current Autumn Tournament count?

Yep. Your Round 4 tournament game can be used towards the qualifier. I said no limitations!

What happens when we fill up all the slots?

There's always someone who qualifies that does not sign up to play, so anyone that qualifies after the slots have been filled gets a numbered "Standby" slot. Those "Standby" slots are brought in to fill slots in the tournament in order of their number (i.e. #1 fills first, then #2, etc.) Any standby slots that aren't able to play in the main tournament can play a side event instead, and get automatic entry into the 2020 World Cup.

Bounties?

What? Who said anything about bounties? Okay, so there might be a way to earn yourself extra points towards your 21 by being the first player to accomplish some goal. You'll have to watch the thread to see what that goal actually is, and how many points it offers.

When does this start?

Right now. Any game that finishes after I hit submit can count. Have fun, fly fast, and win big!

This was fun last year. My luck hasn't been great lately and Vassal has lagged on movements for me lately as well. See if I can address those things but I hope to participate.

Pod play traditionally starts the first or second week of January.

Although we have what 4? 5? Strait weeks to play? Should be pretty flexible

Yes that fleet seems to have done well for the magnificent Admiral in charge of it, perhaps I should ask him for pointers
