Okay, so I just went tried a solo playthrough and I'm SOOOO glad I did before bringing teaching other people the game. Got killed pretty fast on the first try but stayed alive quite awhile on the second playthrough - couldn't find the right quest item and thought I had exhausted all the places to look, so I decided to pore through the exploration cards to figure out what went wrong.
KEY INFO: Remember that you may be required to investigate a specific location multiple times to get everything you need from it. Sometimes cards will allow you to resolve a card a number or two higher. this doesn't mean you can't go back and do the original resolution card, and sometimes you may have to. Other times, you may not have the correct item to allow you to do the right thing the first time you investigate. Also - there may be icons on the card that are referenced - unfortunately one of those icons in my set was not super noticeable - tiny cards and they colored it almost like a watermark, instead of a clear, conspicuous icon.
It was very confusing and a bit frustrating the first time through, but hopefully for the second terrain set, I'll be more aware of what to look for and I won't have to spoil stuff for myself.
Heads Up - essential information
another thing to be aware of is that when one card mentions a keyword or phrase to look for, it may be located in the flavor text, so be sure to read the entire card.
Edited by sabrjayNot may be, from my cards and something else I saw in one of the previews, if it refers to a phrase, it WILL be located in the flavor text.
One thing I learned. Don't just rush to complete objectives. Take some time to craft some items and gather food/water.
If you have a die roll resolution card at a landmark. Do you only get to attempt once? Or do you get to attempt multiple times and does it cost a stamina to roll again?
