"Send down a detachment to retrieve them." Sandtroopers!

By Stormtrooper721, in Star Wars: Legion

When will we get these? Better equipped Stormtroopers (they do all have backpacks and pauldrons) with two Heavy Trooper upgrade slots: I'm guessing a DLT-19 for one and a RT-97C for the other. There could be a variety of choices as well. Dewback Sandtroopers, obviously, but maybe also a commander Sandtrooper with a T-21. You could possibly field an entire army of Sandtroopers.

The T-21 armed Sandtrooper for your commander choice.

Six squads of Sandtroopers

Three Dewbacks.

I'm really looking forward to these. When will we get them?

I like the idea of them being able to remove a suppression automatically or more easily. Maybe give them Indomitable?

Some suggestions:

Give the Sandtroopers the T-50 Heavy Repeater and the Smart Rocket as Heavy Weapon options.

The T-50 should be able to give out Ion tokens as an optional Exhaust effect.

In order to differentiate the Smart Rocket from the HH-12, it should have roll 2 Black dice, have Impact 2 and Blast while still retaining Cumbersome.

Give the Sandtroopers a new keyword.

For example:

Composure: When you activate, before the rally step, remove up to 1 suppression from this unit.

I like it, but something like Endurance might be a better name to make it more about enduring harsh conditions (like Tatooine in the middle of the day wearing armor). I think each unit should have it's own Heavy Weapon choices to keep the unit identities distinct.

I've already got sandtroopers in my legion, but they don't have cool guns like that. To differentiate, I'd prefer dewback riders. 3 to a unit and give them a free recover if they have no suppression tokens at the beginning of their turn

I like this, as it is perfectly the opposite of Harsh Environment, but helps in other ways too.

Otherwise, you could give them Unencumbered. Not as useful, though

FFG made enough sandtroopers to at least theoretically (to say nothing of tournament effectiveness) play them as a faction in skirmish. You had a foot hero, a dewback hero, a dewback trooper, and a squad of troopers on foot. Not too shabby.
