FFG Clone Wars art and speculation

By Animewarsdude, in Star Wars: Legion

I've gone through some Deviantart accounts tied to FFG and through Cardgamesdb for Clone Wars related images and posted them below. Obviously we can't account for new art but this should give us some ideas of what might be coming this coming year.

Obi-Wan

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Clone Troopers, the art of the T-21 Repeating Blaster makes me suspect that will be one of the Phase 1 Clone's heavy weapon options. As for the mortar team, if Phase 2s get that it seems like it would be a heavy option that needs to be recovered but allows for shooting across the board.

Jedi. Not tons to say here, I suspect we will get lots of Jedi Commander options, though the Jedi Temple Guards might be an option for Special Forces, likely filling a similar role to that of the Royal Guards though with a force talent slot.

Gungans. The Electropole could be a heavy weapon option, as could the Gungan with the shield, maybe the first helps protect from melee pierce while the other helps protect from ranged pierce? Might be interesting if FFG did a 'Native' wave for Legion with the Rebels getting Ewoks, Imperials getting Nohgri, the Republic getting Gungans and the Separatists getting Geonosians.

Battle Droids, really interested to see how they will capture the feel of B1s, be it by having larger than normal squads or if FFG will just make them dirt cheap points wise and then expect players to pick up tons of the expansions to run them. Droid Commandos will likely be a Special Forces option.

Separatist Medical Droid, I had been wondering what they could use for the CIS's medical personal slot whenever the Republic and CIS get their personnel wave and this could work.

Force Upgrades. In the event that Force Jump wasn't just built into the unit card I guess they could add it as an upgrade but would be very situational on the map setup. Force Rend, not sure how they might implement it but it sure doesn't look comfortable to be put through. Force Heal would perhaps be interesting but perhaps would be best as a single use like emergency stims.

Force Jump Force Rend Force Wave Force Heal

Others. Not sure about the V-1 Thermal Detonator and how that might be implemented and the Runaway Boomas would likely not be added or just part of some Gungan artillery if that was added. The EMP grenades I see being packed with Clones as a way to interfere with droids and possibly vehicles.

I would not be surprised for there to be Jedi in multiple unit options. We'll see named Jedi as commanders, but I wouldn't be surprised for some to be Operatives too. Perhaps even similar to the generic Officers which could be either a commander or unit leader, and maybe Operative too.

That would give the option for FFG to make a box that contained 3 generic Jedi figures that had cards for a commander, operative, and a unit commander Jedi(or just a unit of 3 Jedi). Then also have another similar box for a Clone commander.

...wow...much work in compiling...thanks for the efforts!....great werk!..

Why did i look at this? My wallet is already empty. These images make me way more excited.

Could we see Jedi join a squad of clones and have it take up personnel/heavy/both slots, becoming unit leader? I like the idea of them being rogue, but prefer it if they're tied to their squad, i think. Maybe just the generic Jedi knights.

I'm going to make some notes and suggestions here:

In most miniatures games, a mortar is considered an artillery piece, even if it's infantry operated.

As such, it could be used as the Republic equivalent to the FD 1.4 Turret.

Mortar Team

Using the Temple Guards as a Spec-Ops unit would make them rather similar to the Royal Guards, so they would need a different Heavy Weapon to differentiate them.

Jedi Temple Guard

Gungans. Could work as a Trooper unit or a Spec-Ops unit. Shield as a Heavy Weapon with Immune: Pierce would be great.

Gungan Warrior

Could be used as the Gungan Heavy unit

Gungan Catapult

Gungan version of the AT-RT. Or a Tauntaun when we eventually get it.

Gungan Offensive

For future reference, this thing is called a Droideka. It could probably be used as a Support for the CIS.

Bubble Shield

As a medical droid, this thing would work well in the CIS personnel expansion.

Machine Replacement

Force Rend basically would have the same effect as Force Choke, wherein it deals one wound to a mini of your choice. However, it could be differentiated by also giving the mini's unit an immobilised token to represent the fact that someone in the unit probably has multiple broken bones now.

Force Rend

Make Force Heal heal 2 wounds from the attached mini, but is discarded on use.

Force Heal

EMP Grenades could give Ion to a unit on a successful hit.

Went back through to look for more art, and found I missed some so will post more. Some of the art here might not have been used by FFG but they have access to it.

Yoda, surprisingly or perhaps not surprisingly most of FFG's Yoda art comes from ESB.

Defend Defensive Teaching

Jedi. Considering how much art was done for Star Wars Galaxies for the Twi'lek below, the fact that FFG has used some of it and their own Twi'lek from Imperial Assault I think if we get a generic Jedi unit or a Jedi personnel/heavy weapon upgrade she might be it.

Clone Trooper, the first two images are from the new source book for FFG's Star Wars RPG while the third is from the WOTC one.

Jango, like Boba I suspect will have some interesting and fun command cards.

Cad Bane, ditto to the above. Fett and Bane should easily be the most well equipped bounty hunters in the game considering all their gadgets.

These are all Destiny cards though, correct?

The majority of it is, since that is the game that so far features PT era content. But, I did pull from some other things too including the old Star Wars Galaxies card game which FFG has used art from, some of the art for their RPGs, PT era art from their artists on Deviantart, and the official art done for LFL for past games including the WOTC rpg. Its not an extensive list since I mostly focused on combing through Deviantart galleries and Cardgamedb's Destiny galleries but it should help give some ideas on what FFG might do since they do like to reuse art.

Thank you for taking the time to do this and highlighting some of the great artwork we can hope to see in the Clone Wars era Legion product.

I will admit when I saw the card of Plo Koon I was pleased. If Plo Koon makes it into Legion I will literally, lose my Sith!
