Han/Luke

I like it. I feel like I'd consider R2-D2 on Han, and some other Astromech on Luke (an R5? generic R2?), but possibly only consider it. Might come back to the original version.

I’ve just always have hated when Luke blanks and defense, so I’ve always had a bias for Jyn.

Tonight is my First Round matchup. Going to be playing this list

Norra Wexley (55)
Tactical Scrambler (2)

Rogue Squadron Escort (53)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Torpedoes (13)
R3 Astromech (3)

I think it’s a good matchup for me. I have Spare Parts for the Torp protection and will be moving last with Luke. As long as I protect Han from blocks I think I can win it. He did bring a debris as one of his obstacles, so Han should have a lot of room to escape.

1-0 for the first round. 164-98

I really gotta get my Han play back up to where it used to be. I feel I'm way to predictable. My opponent did a good job pushing a lot of damage through Han, luckily I killed Nora off before Han died. Han provided just enough time to get Luke in a winnable position with 1.5 E-Wings on the board. Luke finally killed the injured one, but about 15 minutes left and the E-wing had a torp in the tank ready to go. I had to use my Spare Parts earlier in the game when it was either going to be a hair in or out. Sadly it was wasted, but would do it again just in case. However, that meant Luke had to play super cagey knowing he had a torp. Supernatural provided the out every turn except one where there was a 50/50 call on the 2 hard providing the out or the 4 straight, I guessed wrong. Took the torp but only lost 2 shields. The next and last turn of the game I guessed right and took half of the last E-Wing with having no return fire.

Is the bid doing anything for you? Because with Jyn on board the Falcon, not having the title seems like a serious miss.

Jyn’s for Luke and occasionally Han, typically you don’t need a second reroll anyways between having an evade, force, and being i6.

Jyn is worth the two points. Luke is so hard to pin and giving him an evade or two makes it feel even worse when you do finally get a shot and he has an evade token.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Great game. Those 50/50 calls were few and far between.

This one is going to be tough since A-Wings have the turret and 3 agility combined with his gas clouds. Will be tough to push damage through. If I’m going to win this game it will be at time. I recently just played a Kyber Cup game versus Nien, so glad I did and got some more idea how he flies since it’s been awhile facing him before that.

Won second round 200-49

Han managed to use the debris and Kanan to great effect. My opponent was in a tough position with his list not going to be able to push through damage onto Luke with Jyn and 4 regens. He opted to go after Han, but the way the debris was placed provided multiple outs to get out of arc. Damage actually wasn't too bad to push through, since Luke was free to do his thing with relatively little pressure it allowed me to double mod most of the time. Han being i6 also allowed me a couple key initiative kills that would have allowed my opponent some extra shots that would have certainly pushed through some more damage onto Han.

My opponent brought 3 debris, so Han had plenty of space. My opponent played very cagey with his list, obviously wanting me to come to him. He’s got more dice, way better in a joust, red stops, advance sensors, etc that makes way too much sense not to do. I set up Luke to go around the debris on the far side to try to get a good trajectory, but I needed a flank. This is hard to do in this situation, so I took Han with Luke and then slooped to come back around. By the time Han got distance from Luke he bit on Han and Luke was in the clear. Took some time getting Finn, got a lucky Stunned Pilot when he was in front of a debris. Then took half of Vennie with some opportunistic shots and I got another lucky weapons failure crit. This made it take at least a couple more turns to get half of Han. My focus then turn to Cova knowing killing Vennie would be too hard and Cova I could at least get half if not kill him by time. I eventually kill Cova while Han lost half. My opponent played pretty well, I had some luck with the crits, and I’m pretty satisfied with how patient I was and waiting for the right moments.

I haven’t updated for the last couple games. I lost Round 4 versus Sloan Swarm. Very tough matchup, but with practice I think I could make it winnable. That meant I was 3-1, and only 4-1’s and better make cut. So for the final Swiss round I face Kylo/Holo/Thannisson. Only upgrade was Crack on Holo. He put Thanny in the middle, which allowed Han to speed up the board as fast as possible as Luke went up the middle. Luke and Han almost halfed Thanny first round, then next round Luke had to escape a few arcs, but did so while Han sneaked around and proceeded to “one shot” Holo (Console Fire for the finish). With Holo down, Thanny taking a bunch of damage and my list almost untouched except Luke needing to regen back to full, I was in good position. Killed Thanny eventually, but Kylo was tough to push the damage through. In the end he got Luke at same time as I killed Kylo with probably 5 or so minutes left.

Great reading about your success with this list. I've always loved running Lando/Wedge, but this seems even better. Can I ask what obstacles you bring?

3 largest debris. Han only has a 1/64 chance of taking damage with his ability, plus with Kanan’s ability and the timing of it you remove the stress and still take an action since debris doesn’t make you skip your perform action step. Usually you just don’t get one because of the stress, which isn’t the case anymore.

Thanks. That is real clever. I had,'t considered that application of Kanan.

My cut game is versus this list

Darth Vader (67)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)

Seventh Sister (43)

Crack Shot (1)

Luke will move after the interceptors and Seventh Sister which is good, however his Vader will be moving after Han and Luke. This will be a tough matchup since he’s got a lot of red dice to melt Han and green dice that allows them to stick around.

Sadly lost my cut game. Wasn’t my best game with Han and couldn’t push through the damage when I needed to get myself out of a jam. My opponent played great. One thing that’s encouraging was another Spare Parts drop was perfect. I feel I’m getting better and better at it. Played a couple practice games before this one over the weekend and landed some others too. It’s hard to play Spare Parts right, because you don’t want to use it if you think you’ll need the regen, don’t want to force it either because the timing needs to be right to be worth it. In this game, Han went down and Vader was at 2 health. I needed to drop the Spare Parts on him which will hopefully result in 2 rolls and one of which pull a direct hit or at least something else that’s bad. Landed it perfectly so he’d overlap it again. No crits on the dice. Did make Vader run away and use an afterburners charge, but Luke couldn’t capitalize it with his position of the other ships in his list.

Thinking about starting up using the squad again. Had a little hiatus exploring First Order. However, with Galaxies this month I think I want to make a splash with Han/Luke. The build I was using for Corona Renegades is a point cheaper at 195, however, now Han & Luke become different costs and I think 195 is popular enough to make it worth cutting R2-D2 to R2.
