Won first game with Luke in the end game after Han got clogged up with some bumps. Luke finished off Boba and took care of a quad in the end game. Make sure to kill Palob fast. Won second game. Killed Palob fast again. Was aware of Boba’s double boost and proton Torp’d him first turn. Luke took three shots, (R2 from boba and a tug and R3 from a tug and died. When in doubt don’t get shot and avoid it if possible. Han versus Boba in end game. Han won it, again avoid shots if possible, Boba can still shoot long range.

I spread Han & Luke out and make him make a choice. He didn’t decide, so I made sure each move with both Han & Luke had an out just in case and played the when in doubt, head out. Play patient and don’t get frustrated.

I spread Han & Luke out again. Got a torp and a range 3 shot from Han off. Don’t get frustrated if torp doesn’t do much. Every damage counts especially damage done for no damage back. Chipped away at both throughout the game. Took Luke out of the fight to repaid some damage cards from a bomb and Han soaked the other prox mine. Always always dial in the safest move for if a Proton Bomb gets T-Simmed for Luke.

Pretty much lined up Han to only ever get a shot from his Han and baited with Luke the entire time. Luke didn't die until last shot of the game, but I managed to kill Palob, the Gunrunner, and half of his Han.

Almost PS killed 2 ships. Offense was hot at the beginning, but cooled off when I needed it. Mitch plays me enough to see the 2 hard over the debris and called it and blocked it. Still almost won and was in lead most of the game. Matchup is probably 50/50.

Game 7: Dr. Suteki. (P) (L: 109-200) (5-2)

Just finished a game on TTS with Han/Luke versus Whisper and 3 Named bombers with torps. He had the bid, but managed to kill Whisper before she had a shot. Messed up with Luke and barely didn’t clear a 4 straight over Han. Hard to tell online and he went poof. Han had the rest of the game pretty easily. Until my opponent messed up his dials and deleted a ship by accident, then I had to explain how Kanan/Debris/Actions work. Forgot where I was at when we came back and then took a torp instead of boosting out and sealing the game. Very mad at that. I ain’t counting that game.

Game 8: Nate Johnson. (T) (W: 200-44) (6-2)

Luke avoided Vermiel’s arc but took on Vader and Soontir. I need to learn to move before i6 Aces. Vader blanked against a torp and a range 1 for like the following turn. Huge dice variance. Vermiel flew off the board after having to do a 2 white straight getting stressed before trying to do a k-turn. So was Soontir versus the world. Would like to play the match over again and get a better evaluating game.

Both of us knew we had to just score ~100pts to make cut. So he went for Han and I went for the cutlass and Redline. Luke & Rexlar was the end game. I took some risks since I made the cut already and Luke got down to half when Rex was down to 1. Another reason why I think R2 is better than R5, Luke can Supernatural Barrel Roll, 3 Hard, and boost Regen and not use an action. Anyways, had to risk the joust to force final salvo instead. Both killed each other, won 5v4 on final salvo.

Game 10: Mitch Raab (P) (W: 200-109) (8-2)

Played with R2 instead, works perfect for when Luke gets in somewhat danger and take a Damage when doing those initial torps. Had him distracted with Luke and Han and he never committed enough. Traded Han for 4-Lom and 2 health Kavil. So Luke did his last torp on him. Luke v Palob, Luke wins every time and he conceded.

Ion Cloud Game: killed the Z and slowly whittled his Han and an A. He made a mistake and flew Han off the board, but I would had just proton’d him anyways. Han is very good in the format since there’s a ton more places to hide/arc dodge.

Game 12: Andrew Twa (T) (W: 200-0) (10-2)

Ion Cloud Game: get REKT Twa lol. Nah, Twa made a few mistakes and I was able to capitalize on every one. Wouldn’t use this game as evidence whether I can beat this meta list or not.

Game 13: Travis (T) (W: 200-144) (11-2)

Total points: 199

Ion cloud game: I didn’t put the feedback/discharge trick together, so I purposely bumped Luke which was a huge mistake. Palob didn’t die and Luke was screwed. Luke died and was Han versus the world. My skill with Han was only reason I won that game and I had to fight the dice hard with huge swings that made it difficult. Outplayed my opponent big time.

Game 14: Mitch Raab (T) (L: 99-200) (11-3)

Ion cloud game: Played Mitch and this list twice before and won. See above^. He had a tough decision to whether shoot Luke with a torp or trick shot han through an ion cloud and kill him that turn. He chose Luke after about 10 minutes and maxed out the torp to push direct and a structural into Luke. Luke then kills kavil. Neither of my ships were now in a position to get to a point to seal the game anymore and hurting badly. If Luke didn’t take that damage I’d felt a lot better about my chances. Han later died and Luke did his absolute best. Very proud of my Luke play to at least give me a chance.

The list has served me well. Overall 11-3 and 7-1 in tourney play. Currently top 4 in UVX TTS tourney. However, I get to go about 1 physical tournament a month and hyperspace is coming out in January which means Kanan/Jyn won’t be available in that format. I’ll be switching them for R2-D2/Lando. Will be interesting if Rebel Falcon see’s a point decrease too.

Took your revamped list to my FLGS biweekly tournament yesterday and I gotta say - when I didn't have much hope sitting down to the first game, this has been the most fun I had playing this game ever since 2.0 kicked in. As an exclusively Rebel player, I was sick and tired of all my lists just doing math - bring ****'load of HP because Rebel greens are a joke, dial 1s, stack as many mods as possible... Repeat.

This list finally got me high on my toes on decision making. Dodging is everything.

Played against most important matchups in one evening:

- Scum "control": LOM, Torkil, Teroch, and Gunrunner

- Imp aces: Whisper, Deathrain, Soontir

- Rebel salad: Wedge, Norra (ARC), Jan, Blount

Ended up destroying the first one giving half out of both ships. Not bad for the first game at all with the list.

The other two were so close it actually ended up with final salvos! This is where the list doesn't excel much - being left with 3 dice each time, I lost both.

My constructive feedback out of the experience - count your opponents points right at the beginning of the game! Chances of eating 4 ships with just two shots a round are slim on a timer. Understand who has to be halved at least to tip the scales to your side. Give up pursuits if it puts your points at risk. Both ships you have are ridiculously expensive and half of either can be more valuable than your opponents support or whatnot.

Overall, thank you Sir @Quack Shot for bringing back some joy into my X-wing experience!

Went 1/3 with Han/Luke, lost to wedge/Luke/Dutch and Vader plus swarm. 1st loss I wasn’t aggressive enough with Han - completely outflow his approach and killed wedge before they could line up toro shots on Luke who proceeded to take four torps before he died. Sadly I miscalculated and he got half points on Han which won him the game, Second loss I conceded when my Dice killed me. And when I’ve taken three crits after four range three shots on Han by tie fighters (two over two turns) and only managed to score one hit in exchange? I guess I could’ve been a little more cagey with Luke , but he should’ve been alright... meh. Will have to have a rematch on that one!

Do you believe that a single more R2 charge is worth opting out of any bid? From what I got to experience, flying reactively, especially with Luke, make a **** of a difference.

Not at all, just me being thematic. I also didn’t get much use out of Jyn as I found I was boosting to arc dodge a lot. I think I’m going to play about a bit with crew on Han. On the other hand, bids are pretty cutthroat out there, I had a twelve point bid in my last tournament and in three rounds it was irrelevant and the fourth he had a 14 point bid!

Let me guess, US player? From what I've assessed, Europe doesn't go nearly as crazy on the bid. In my local community, 7 points of bit is sky high already.

Had a similar experience with Jyn. Although I might have been playing too offensively. Even with Han boosting, she can still be used for Like though.

I too would love to toy around with the crew and gunner slots. Thing is, Kanan bring so much freedom to the dial or consistency to the rolls I'd absolutely hate to let it go. And being as expensive as he is, he doesn't leave much room for "roommates".

UK! Bleh. I’ve had a mess around in the fly casual app and I’ve developed some better tactics. Think I’ll have another go at it :)

The R2 / Lando variation? Well, perhaps.

The Kanan version, what for?

Jyn is mainly for two things, when you’re stuck getting shot through a rock or range 3. You do not want to get plinked for a damage and can’t boost for whatever reason. That evade plus Han’s rerolls you should be able to max out the dice. It’s also super clutch and the only way Luke can change blank greens. It’s also the cheapest way to get access to the evade and probably the best crew for the points Rebels have.

Kanan version doesn’t need it. The R2-D2/Lando is a completely different playstyle and doesn’t need it.

You got me thinking there sir - what's your strategy with this other variation?

I’ve tried to run it like once and didn’t like the playstyle of that Han, @Stay On The Leader @SOTL runs it and probably has a better answer than I can provide. But Han’s more of a brawler with R2-D2 and you’d have Inertial Dampeners to help with that which can then be used late game cuz of R2-D2.

I realise, I just wasn’t flying it well enough to use it much I guess.

I tried running her along with perceptive co-pilot on the Falcon recently. It’s pretty strong, and frees up a lot of points for something. I’m still battling with knowing when to change arcs though.

Wouldn't you be tempted to substitute both for yet even cheaper Lando? With Han's ability you should have a decent chance at getting two tokens of from him pretty consistently.

Engine upgrade is 9pts on falcon kanen is 14pts. If you take engine upgrade you have 5 pts left over for a crew or whatever.

You do realise you won't be able to get a action independent, bump resistant 'calculate token' from any crew or whatever for 5 points? Even if it's only available on some of the turns?

6 hours ago, Blademaster72 said:

Kanan is more than just Engine Upgrade.

Allows Han to land on debris, clear stress, roll for damage (1/64 chance with Han ability), take action still. Makes Han an i6 Dash.

Allows Luke to go over debris and clear stress and take action. He can also do hard turns if Luke is stressed.

Gives you a focus change even if you get blocked. Which is critical cuz if you have Jyn, Jyn allows you to practically focus/evade and tank up when you need.

Lets Panicked Pilot not hurt nearly as much

@Quack Shot really exited to try your list.

What will be your main suggestion for playing vs torpedo heavy lists? For example, mass bombers, combination of punishers and bombers, rebel 3 torpedo ships lists.

For the mass alphas make sure to trade Han for enough, Luke can beat 1-2 of them in the end game with smart and patience play. But control your ranges with Han and Luke in the beginning take advantage of the debris. Han can use it to go places where the other ships can’t and can then arc dodge when needed to. With Luke, when in doubt don’t. Play safe, you need him to be full for the end game.

This is my prediction for the Extended version. Still no change in the overall total. Making Luke more Expensive while still keeping a small bid I think is a good thing.

I think R2 is a good call. I really like the idea of a Jyn Kanan combo and am going to try it on the Auzituck to help add life to my pair of B wings. Thanks for the inspiration Quack Shot!

Han came down a ton! SNR went up a ton. As a result the Extended version would be at 200 and Hyperspace stays at 197. Now though, I can outbid the other factions but adjusting it and it’d be worth it!
