League night match

My List:

Delta Squadron Ace, Darth Vader (FCS) and Echo (with Juke) 199

I had a slim 1 point bid against Major Vynder, Deathrain, Soontir Fel, and Scimitar Squadron Pilot. Soontir had Predator and Deathtrain had Proton Bombs and Proton Torps if I remember correctly the rest of the list I cannot remember exactly. During setup I place the Defender in the middle facing right, and Echo and Vader in the farthest left corner. My opponent had spread his list equally across the board with Major Vynder facing Vader.

The first 3 turns were used for me to position in arc Major Vynder, while my opponent tried and flanked me from my right. I was able to slowly start stripping shields while avoiding damage from Vynder has my opponent made a few positional mistakes allowing me to to focus fire. After turn three my opponent was able to drop a proton bomb and causing minimal damage to Vader and the Delta allowing Vynder to escape arc forcing me to re-lock a new target (Soontir Fel) all while for the next two turns I watched Deathtrain, and the Scimitar Squadron Pilot struggle to get shots from any distance.

Major Vynder was able the next turn get Vader to lose a shield but wasn’t able to keep the chase up for long as I had changed my priority to Fel and with time running out and the dice holding on defense for both my opponent and me I only had one option to a win. Chase down Soontir and destroy him or see if I had push enough minimal damage through to halve something else.

Turn 6 was my chance I didn’t cloak Echo knowing if I had gotten lucky I could realistically get Soontir in a no win position. Vader and the Delta turn in chasing Soontir back up to the left corner from me and Vader with his lock and using the force with Vader I got hit, hit, crit. My opponent wasn’t able to evade the damage and after the turn he had lost Soontir. This game was a game my opp Bent ran must of it and I chased, it was the first time in 2.0 I felt I had the upper had. At the end of the game I took down Soontir and that was enough to win the match.

After the match like like usual I asked my opponent what he thought, he told me I flew my ships well and was able to arc dodge with Vader exceptionally. He said the toughest decision was deciding which ship to try and go after first and that because he couldn’t decide he felt he was at a disadvantage. And in the endgame Darth Vader defeated Soontir Fel while the rest of our list traded minimal damage throughout the game.

I found that not having to worry about an overloaded list of upgrades help me fly better I think because I was able to focus n positioning easier and tried hard to get constant shots every round. I will be trying the list again.
