Spoiled Brat

By Jjiinx, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Me and my friends are playing through the original campaign and we've played the quest 'Spoiled Brat' about 4-5 times now, the overlord (me), has won every game by the time the heroes get to the 2nd room, and they are becoming less interested in playing again because of the losses. The last game we even played with some overlord nerfs (paying more for spawn cards, limit how many monsters can attack per turn) But the heroes still lost on the 2nd room. Is this just due to bad rolls, or is this meant to be an overly challenging map for the heroes? Any assistance would be most helpful to get my friends through this quest.

EDIT: Also I'd like to add that every game has been a 5 player game in case anyone was going to ask how many players there were

Quest 4 is harder than quest 3 and easier than quest 5 (though some of the later quests are easier). I've beaten it with 3 heroes, playing with treachery and not with feats.

The biggest problem is the size. Heroes need to move quickly, and remember they don't need to kill every monster. When they enter one of the small rooms, take advantage of the close packing of monsters to kill as many of them as possible right away. Guessing the wrong direction to go first can also be an obstacle on the first play-through. Once the heroes get a gold chest, things become easier.

Have you tried different players as overlord to see if that has any impact?

Good tips, I think next try I'll play a hero and we'll pick a less aggressive player to be overlord. Thanks for the help
