RZ-2 A-wing: Vectored Thrusters?

By Maui., in X-Wing

They'll have them, right?

...right...?

Because I have to be honest, despite my earlier reluctance, I'm actually getting kinda hyped for the Resistance. The T-70 looks good. Rey and Han are going to be Rey and Han. The two A-wing pilots we've seen look fun.

But we can't see the bottom half of the cards, and looking back I can't see any mention of Vectored Thrusters in any of the Resistance A-wing stuff they've given us. So now I'm concerned that Refined Gyrostabilizers might be there instead of, rather than in addition to, the RZ-1's Vectored Thrusters. Which, frankly, might just be a dealbreaker for me.

EDIT - it's In Addition To! Refined Gyrostabilizers allows a red boost or arc rotato. More details (and rejoicing) can be found further down in the thread

Looking at how the card spacing is set up, I think you're going to be disappointed.

It's clearly instead of. Who knows though, maybe they'll get a config.

That is a very good possibility. Or Primed Thrusters via a tech slot. They did spoil that card along side the RZ-2 pilot when they spoiled some of the conversion kit.

Checked the article, and the quickbuilds don't have configs, so I guess that's out. Might be a boosty tech available though, or even a mech slot.

Primed Thrusters allows the ship it is on to Boost or Barrel roll as long as it has 2 or less stress. So repositioning after a 3 S-Loop or 5 K-Turn is well within the RZ-2's capabilities (it would stupid for them not to get a Tech Slot since the pic on the card is the *** end of one).

It's definitely doing something with a movable firing arc. probably going to be able to only aim their arc forward and back, with the ability likely letting them do either a boost or rotate after any action. at the very least it'll be able to link a red rotate onto any action, but I imagine it will keep the boost option as well.

From the RZ-2 section of the "Spark of Rebellion" article: If its reversible cannons don’t provide enough of a defensive boon, the RZ-2 A-wing can always rely on the five upgrade cards included in the RZ-2 A-Wing Expansion Pack for help. For example, the ship is already highly maneuverable, but adding some Primed Thrusters makes it even more so. If you have two or fewer stress tokens, this tech upgrade allows you to quickly barrel roll or boost away from incoming fire, even while stressed.

I find it Ironic that they don't present the offensive possibilities as well.

The quick-build card also includes a tech upgrade called Ferrosphere Paint, which sounds like it will have something to do with throwing off enemy locks.

Sloop > boost/roll seems pretty strong, as does 3-banking over something, rolling into position at range 1 and flip the gun backwards. Hope the "linked" rotate is white though.

Ferrosphere Paint

This one has peaked my interest allot. Though I'm not sure how a Gunrunner could make use of it. Either Lock counter or damage mitigation tied to a maneuver speed, barrel roll or boost action is my guess.

Looks like they have refined gyro stabilizers. Whatever that means.

It involves their primary attack being able to flip between front and rear arc.

And after you do an action, you can do a red rotate or red boost.

Source?

I feel like I have seen a full image of refined gyro's allowing a rotate OR boost as a red action. I'll try and track down the source image.

I thought I read someone say they saw it at a Con somewhere on display, with that text exactly, but at this point I could be mixing it up with like 20 different things. I hope you find that image, cuz I've been wanting that confirmed since they announced this ship.

Yeah I'm recalling it being a photo of the conversion kit packaging. Still on the hunt for it, I think it was on reddit.

It's not on the back of the conversion kit.

That's the old Camo card.

FOUND IT

FINDINGS:

1) Refined Gyrostabilizers : You can rotate your [turret] indicator only to [forward arc] and {presumably the [rear arc]}. After you perform an action, you may perform a red [boost] or red {presumably [rotate arc]}

2) Otherwise unspoiled pilot: Zari Bandel - I3 - you do not skip your Perform Action step after you partially execute a maneuver.

3) HYPE HYPE HYPE
