Where has Countdown gone?

My buddy has been flying double firespray Boba+Krassis.

He also keeps saying he "needs to try new things".

And I'm like, "Bro...why bother? It's GOOD, and you're WINNING."

Sure, there's other stuff, but if you're having fun and winning...I wouldn't change a thing.

I've flown Palp Defenders more often than any other 2e list. It's like. Boring old Defenders. Still been winning for me.

Obvious question but.. What exactly is the point of a filler?

When you build a squad around a single piece but don't need a specific piece to round out. For instance, swarm leader quickdraw required 2 defenders, and thus no room for filler. Kylo and Quickdraw would have some points left over that would not drastically change gameplan: and thus a variety of fillers available to fill the points (although only 2 were rather viable).

I still play him; he's still good especially with bombs (since he's hard to alpha off the board before he gets into position).

I think the major shift beyond Duchess pricing (as has been mentioned) is just higher ship counts in 2.0. Countdown loves to see a small number of large, heavily modded attacks which was pretty common at the tail end of 1.0. He does not love to see stuff like swarms and bombs, both of which are common in 2.0 right now.

It's also worth noting there are other good options in that price range and lower as well now too. Stuff like generic interceptors/strikers or wampa are all competing for the points that he nicely slotted into previously.

He still has a place I think, but he's highly meta-dependent and we just don't have a great feel for what that's going to be in 2.0 yet.
