I love gimmicky Jan Ors "dice nuke" lists

Every once in a while I love making silly lists that just roll lots of dice. Today I flew Hera (Ghost) and Jan Ors (HWK) together and it went well.

Clearly not tournament-worthy, but still a lot of fun. I didn't get the 7-dice Trick Shot, but many 5- and 6-dice shots met their target, and a couple of them with both lock + focus. I think Double-Tap Leebs or Dash is quite a bit stronger though. The YT-2400 is just such a monster, especially with the right support.

Up to 28 dice in one round of attacks, could swap one of the Vet Turret Gunners for Han for an early opener. All init 2 so not really viable. But it is 32 hp so can soak a bit.

I'm thinking more like a mass nuke attack that overwhelms high agility, but shot spam fleets get around such defense by sheer odds so they're cool too.

Last night at the game store we talked about deadman and I pondered a Popcorn fleet of 7 Z-95s with Deadman, 6 of which have homing missiles. Probably not overwhelmingly viable, but funny.

I keep thinking something along the lines of:

  • Luke Skywalker (Supernatural Reflexes, R2-D2, S-Foils) 82
  • Jan Ors (Debris Gambit, Nien Nunb, Engine Upgrade, Moldy Crow) 64
  • Thane Kyrell (Crack Shot, R5 Astromech, S-Foils) 54

It's "only" a Torpedo strength shot from Luke, and a good amount of trim could be done for bid points (almost anything on Thane or Jan could easily get axed or replaced), but I kind of like that it's Original Trilogy, pre-Disney EU, and post-Disney EU.

I flew against a Jan(Debris Gambit, Nien Nunb, Moldy Crow)/Dash(Trick Shot, Bistan, Perceptive Copilot, Outrider) list the other day. The nuke is strong, but if it doesn't cripple the opposing list, I feel like you're just kind of in a bad place.

AP-5 (R2-D2, Shield Upgrade)

6 range 1/0 dice from Hera vs reduced agility at range 0. Who wants to shoot that Jan? AP-5 helps Hera with action support

Wedge + Proton is where it's at. Cheap IN6 4+1 reds -1 green and turn a crit.
This is the worst combo I can think of: Jank Wedge double modded proton:

You could do 6 Bandit Squad with shield and homing. 30 hp + either 2x 6 guaranteed damage or 2x 24 red dice salvos depending on if you have the arc overlap on the target.

So I was under the impression that you lose your range one bonus if you’re at range 0... because you’re not at range one. 4 die intimidation is fun anyways, but. Yeah.

Rules reference says it's range 0 - 1: For attack range 0–1, the attacker rolls one additional attack die during the Roll Attack Dice step.

Which is really good for Arvel, Zeb, and Oicunn!

That would’ve made a difference flying Int/Zeb Hera the other night. I mean I won, but. I guess my friend and I need to reread the rules... Again.

And what about wullffwarro ? It can also climb to 4 dice primary. Add Saw and you can work your way down to being damaged on your own, while keeping your action for Reinforcement. Get Trick Shot on him, or if you want to go all-in, Juke with Jyn would be my go-to.

My question is, except Dutch, there is no way to give rerolls to that monster. Am I correct ?

Currently it's 7/3 after it's first 10 games. Both Wedge and Hera are targets for Jans ability/coordinate etc.

I like that list. Both have the ability to smite with high power, +2 attack vs -1 defense with Jan's help. Hera can ram and still get dice mods. I'd be tempted to drop Hera to a lower initiative pilot to act as blocker, but Saw makes that less necessary: even ramming is viable, and Hera's good at choosing the right maneuver for it.

I usually hate Zeb on a Ghost--I tend to feel that I'd rather avoid being shot back--but I think it makes sense here. Most of my experience was on cheap Lothal Rebels in 1e. Hera can adjust her move to ram better, and have a double-mod 6 dice attack at reduced agility at Init 5. With the other high-Init attacks to have a decent chance to kill someone before it shoots.

I've dropped Rexler in one turn like that.

When Saw goes nuts even bigger ships get wrecked. 5 crits and a hit with no defence on a Scum Falcon was Fun.

However if the recipient uses the focus action they therefore gain a focus token. The subtle difference between giving a token and giving the action is that the recipient can't perform another focus action during their activation. If they had been given a focus token they still could.

Jyn's ability therefore still fire as the recipient is performing the focus action to get a focus token and gets an evade token instead. But they can't later perform another focus action.

The lovely Nordic winning list had Jan Ors as the key support piece in a 4 ship rebel list.

Looks like it was leveraging the ability to throw that extra dice on any number of different attacks.

  • Norra - Proton torpedoes
  • Jan Ors - Moldy crow
  • Wedge - Crackshot, Servos
  • Sabine shuttle

Which do you take out first ... while the rest of the list is lighting you up?
