Free actions

By player3049613, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Is there a limit to free actions other than the limit of available actions?

Only that you can perform each action once per round. So even a ship is (somehow) given 3 free actions, they can only perform whatever actions available to them they have not already performed that round.

Ok that's what I thought thanks for confirming.

And they are not free actions anymore... assuming this is related to v2

Well, the term "free action" is gone, but the effect is the same. Something like Full Throttle lets you take an Evade action, which doesn't count towards your "perform action step" action. Having a friendly ship coordinate you doesn't give you a free action, but just an action.

It's a good habit to start omitting the word "free" from our discussions, since it doesn't appear on the cards, but there's no real difference in how they work.

Yes it is. I have been playing a bit of flycasual and it still uses free action terminology.

Using wrong terminology is the best way to be even more confused about rules
