Tie Bombers and Gunner crew.

By Stoneface, in X-Wing Squad Builder

Of the four crew that show up under the gunner slot, two refer to a turret arc. They can be used on the bomber but serve no purpose. They really shouldn't be an option.

Personally, I disagree. Let the app worry about whether or not my list is legal. Let me worry about whether or not my list makes sense.

To an extent I agree with you but I'm thinking of a new player getting all kinds of flack for building a legitimate squad that makes no sense.

Gotta learn the game somehow, right? If someone is giving a newbie flack for something, that person is a [non-advertiser-friendly content].

I'm just a little torqued. Really not fond of being a playtesters and bug finder and being charged more for the experience. Daredevil on X-wings with closed S foils but not open ones, turret gunners on ships without turrets, etc..

I was a pretty staunch supporter of the Devs in 1e but it seems like FFG has adopted the attitude of "We'll fix it in the field".

Of all the bugs in the squad builder (of which there are many) you listed 2 things that are actually not bugs, where the application is working properly.

The application should not be disallowing upgrades because they are bad on a ship, or do nothing on a ship, I mean the players need to take responsibility for there stupid lists somehow. And the S-foils closed gives the x-wing a boost action, and daredevil needs the boost action to equip.

As for upgrades that do nothing being allowed, I would much prefer that as there are weird synergies that can come in the future on ships that take a card that "does nothing" and gives it a use, I would rather the app be open to all legal lists then have the programmers have to envision all possible legal combos of cards that might make another card useful on a ship it normally does nothing on.

** Disclaimer, the application needs a lot of fixes and updates, I don't disagree with that.

The game itself is great, you can still support the devs, it's not there fault FFG as a whole decided to cheap out hard on the application and not put the required money into developing something that's not a dumpster fire.

You are right, the game is great or I and a lot of others wouldn't have bought in to 2e. As for the App, maybe I'm too use to technical programs where options are viable and legitimate. You're also correct about players being responsible when building their squad. On the other hand I can see a new player grabbing a bomber, seeing a gunner slot and trying to figure out why he can't add a turret weapon.

Maybe I'm just getting cranky in my old age.

You can also put most of the gunners on an ARC or Firespray, and they won't do much.
Also Saturation Salvo on ships without ordnance.
Bombardier on ships without bombs.
And so on.

The amount of combinations that make no sense is just too high. It would be nice to have, sure, if the app could tell you that your combination is probably now going to do anything. But not even the best community created apps do this. So I don't expect FFG to add this feature to theirs even in a million years.
