YV-666 - trying to field it in 2ed

By BoskiChe, in X-Wing Squad Lists

4-lom is a sleeper IMO. He's fantastic on large base ships exactly like the hounds tooth which was a 1.0 fav of mine too.

Lonewolf is great when its active, so probably worthwhile here for your game plan. However consider even if bossk wants LW over a third ship you should at least consider the drone.. for a measly 12 pts it could support moralo with a few coordinates and then suicide into your opponent. Its a freaking mobile proton bomb attached to a fairly decent chassis with coordinate gravy! Add homing missiles and you have a third 3-attack ship (equivalent that is) for anti green duty. Anyway I'd look at outmaneuver and the copilots for points since trick shot fits great on half arcs with red stops.. plus IG88 is a cheaper near same replacement.

I'm also picturing bossk as the heavy lifter here which would mean a few swaps. I'll toss out a list of what I'm talking about when I get a chance later.

Outmanoeuvre has actually been really useful with Moralo's ability to get behind the opponent, it either forces them to turn and deal with a potentially triple tokened yv (usually at close range as well) or ignore it to go after Bossk (who you obviously don't want alive in the end game) and have a yv with outmanoeuvre chase you round the table.

And as for the escape craft, I understand the value, I really do. But, it just is too slow a dial to stay in co-ordinate range of Moralo (due to to the teleporting) and Bossk really wants Lone Wolf active to get some dice mods (my dice hate me).

I'll give 4-LOM a try next time I fly the list, I'm also wondering if Maul might be another interesting option for dice mods (thinking Maul and IG88D on Bossk specifically)

You don't have a Front Arc weapon on Moralo so Outmaneuver is a waste of 6 points. If he had an Ion Cannon, Tractor Beam or Jamming Beam then it would do something. The Full Front Arc primary, like Bullseye arc weapons, does not count as a Front Arc weapon... FFG really should have used a different system to designate weapon type and weapon arc...

Ah, thanks for that but of info, we'd (me and my opponent) just assumed it only worked if I was shooting from the front 90 part of the 180 arc - I shall have a re-think as the rest of the build works really nicely

Ok, so I got bored and threw this together

Prockets for giggles? Range 1-2 Bullseye and with the Perceptive Co-pilot you're probably focusing allot on Moralo anyways. Your opponent will most likely try to evade that arc but it is still a 5 dice shot. Could be useful to munch on another large base with. :)

Edit: I just re-read Lando's ability... That could hurt...

I missed the synergy with morals ability, it's too bad outmaneuver doesn't jive with the arc because that was a great find.. still get confused with the arcs myself.

Yeh Lando is a very nice card alongside Perceptive and 0-0-0, not always immediately obvious to your opponent either I've discovered.

I'm certain Moralo has a viable build somewhere, that pilot ability is just too much fun to not put on the table - unfortunately the talents I'd like to use (Fearless and outmanoeuvre) now don't actually work on him, so I'll try him with no talent and see what happens.

There is always Trick Shot :) for 1 point it is decent

I'm planning on giving this a go this coming weekend. Three Fangs, One Bossk.

Zealous Recruit (41)

Zealous Recruit (41)

Zealous Recruit (41)

Bossk (76 total)

  • Zuckuss Crew
  • Dengar Gunner
  • Shield Upgrade
  • Deadman's Switch

Total 199

Thinking that the three Fangs coming in hot will prove pretty distracting and intimidating, with Bossk taking up the rear. The fangs will be staying close to the enemy, even jamming them up and prohibiting movements since they will move first. Any that are clear to fire will do lots of close-range damage, and Concordia faceoff is surprisingly effective in my experience. Bossk will clean up the mess from a reasonably safe distance.

Of course all of this relies upon properly flying the fangs!

My favourite Yv666 build :

Latts Razzi (57)
0-0-0 (5)
Unkar Plutt (2)
Total: 64

Unkar Putt enables the lock even when Latts get bumped. 000 gives you most likely a calculate token. So, either you get a double mod attack on an opponent ship or spend the lock for attacks against fewer defense dice.

The very reasonable points costs opens the slot for additonal very scummy options like Asajj, 4Lom or Turani... 😁

Probably the beefiest combo of all there is and pretty safe and sound:

1. tandoshan slaver

zuckuss and 4-lom + shield upgrade

2. tandoshan slaver

l337 + shield upgrade + Qira

3. Bossk

IG-88D + Lando + Greedo + shield upgrade

Astonishing I have not flown this at every opponent ia had recently had, it is a boring list I could agree, but yet a very safe and sound one.

I played a few aggressive players which I knew it might be hard to overcome and win and I mostly lost, but it took so tiny bit more effort to actually steer the situation to a WIN. If I win then it was mostly opponents fault due to him having too many ships to handle, while I just do what tandoshans allow me to do.

In all the matches I have lost, not joking, for example: LOST 130 - 160, LOST 33 - 40 , u get the idea. I won matches also same, lost mostly 1 or 1.5 ships.

Very interesting to play to be honest, hard to beat, hard to win, but if you do mistakes like I do, then this is the list for you, you can even when mistakes were done get to a point and restart and try to overcome your opponent by that.

Wow, that is beefy! Unfortunately I only own one ship lol.
